4、dustries Association (JE1TA)lJapanese Standards Association (JSA) with the draft of Industrial Standard based on the provision of Article 12 Clause 1 of the Industrial Standardization Law. This Standard has been made based on ISO/IEC 16382:2000 Information technology - Data interchange on 12.7 mm 20

5、8-track magnetic tape cartridges - DLT6 format for the purpose of making it easier to compare this Standard with International Standard; to prepare Japanese Industrial Standard conforming with International Standard; and to propose a draft of an International Standard which is based on Japanese Indu

29、on of ISO/IEC 16382 Information technology - Data interchange on 12.7 mm 208-track magnetic tape cartridges - DLTG format published in 2000 without modifying the technical contents. Portions underlined with dots are the matters not stated in the original International Standard. 1 This Standard speci

30、fies the physical and magnetic characteristics of a 12.7 mm wide, 208-track magnetic tape cartridge, to enable physical interchangeability of such cartridges between drives. It also specifies the quality of the recorded signals, a format - called Digital Linear Tape 6 (DLT 6) - and a recording metho

31、d, thereby allowing data interchange between drives. Together with a labelling standard, for instance, JIS X 0601 for magnetic tape labelling, it allows full data interchange by means of such magnetic tape cartridges. NOTE : The International Standard corresponding to this Standard is as follows. In

32、 addition, symbols which denote the degree of correspondence in the contents between the relevant International Standard and JIS are IDT (identical), MOD (modified), and NEQ (not equivalent) according to ISO/ IEC Guide 21. Magnetic tape cartridges A magnetic tape cartridge shall be in conformance The tape requirements shall be satisfied throughout the extent of

34、the tape. 2.2 Generating systems A system generating a magnetic tape cartridge for interchange shall be in conformance with this Standard if all the recordings that it makes on a tape according to 2 . 1 meet the mandatory requirements of this Standard. In addition, a claim of conformance shall state

35、 - whether or not one, or more registered algorithm(s) are implemented within the system, and are able to compress data received from the host prior to collecting the data into blocks, and - the registered identification number(s) of the implemented compression algorithm( s). 37、s A system receiving a magnetic tape cartridge for interchange shall be in conformance with this Standard if it is able to handle any recording made on a tape according to 2.1. In addition, it shall state - whether or not one, or more de-compression algorithm(s) are implemented within the system, an

38、d are able to be applied to de-compress data prior to making such data available to the host, - the registered identification number(s) of the implemented compression algorithm(s1. 3 Normative references The following standards contain provisions which, through reference in this Standard, constitute
