25、whatcanbedonetoassistthosecountriesharmedbyforeignbribery?LeftoutoftheBargain hasfoundthat395settlementcasestookplacebetween1999andmid-2012,resultinginatotal ofUS$6.9billioninmonetarysanctionsimposedagainstcompaniesandindividuals.Ofthis amount,nearlyUS$6billioncamefromsettlementsthattookplaceinacoun

26、trydifferentfrom thatoftheallegedlybribedforeignpublicofficials.ButonlyaboutUS$197million,or3percent, hasbeenreturnedororderedreturnedtothecountrieswhoseofficialswereaccusedof acceptingbribes.LeftoutoftheBargainurgescountrieswhoseofficialswereallegedlybribedto intensifytheireffortstoinvestigateandpr
