In short , if the exe
2、rcise involves cycling, then the training adaptations will be most closely related to cycling performance. This is true also for running ,swimming, or training on an ergometer or treadmill.the body seeks to adapt to the stress it encounters in as specific a manner as possible, a principle that has o
3、bvious implications for the design of training programs .While programming is beyond the scope of the chapter ,it is important for the personal trainer to bear in mind that any exercise program will produce adaptations very closely related to the specific activities the client engages in.,However ,
4、human beings are not lab rats or robotic machines that merely react to the world around them or function like a computer like a computer running a series of instructions through a written program . We have the extended capability of modifying our environment and applying the physiological adaptation
5、s that we acquire in one area to another area. The body adapts to any stress it experiences so long as the stress is applied in appropriate amounts over a period of time . It is important to remember this concept with regard to specificity .,If a client wants to be a good sprinter , the client needs
6、 to run sprints: if the client desires to be a good long-distance runner , the client must run long distances . Although the concept is simple, the personal trainer must be creative in order to overcome possible boredom with these types of exercise. Instead , alternative types of exercise or cross-t
7、raining exercises such as pool running use of elliptical trainers ,and use of stair steppers all lend themselves to the aerobic adaptations that are being sought.
