1、Richard Corywas originally found in the second poetry book of Edwin Arlington Robinson, children of the night. Robinson lived in the period of the late Civil War, when the United States went to the turning point from the laissez-faire capitalism to imperialism transition. When the U.S. is being rebu
2、ilt, with the increasing concentration of production and capitalism, more and more wealth went into fewer peoples pockets. These people exploiting the working class, the lower class were in a miserable life. Meanwhile, the increased competition of the society lead to the result that only a few upper
3、 class people are in charge of majority society resource. At the same time, the self-interest ideology was popular during that period, and people pay much attention to the success of material, ignoring peoples spirit, switching from the true value of humanity.; many people are pessimistic, lonely an
4、d upset. The social reality puzzled the Americans are trying to find the materialistic world. So The author writes Richard Cory which is such a typical figure.The poem is divided into four quarters, a total line of sixteen. The poem was written from the perspective of ordinary working class who rega
5、rd the Cory a sketch the fate of the beloved. Richard Cory is a handsome gentleman, who was well- educated with good manners. Besides, in the eyes of the town inhabitants, Corys possessions make him just like a rich king. People admired him so much. Everyone has a desire to have a luxury life just l
6、ike he did. But in a quiet night, Cory ends up his own life with a gun.Its an unexpected end, the hero of the outcome is frightening. Cory commits suicide, and the poet did not point out the causes of suicide. We all curious to know: what led to his unusual movement? Why did he choose death? Is it t

He is the focus of the public, no matter where he goes, peoples eyes would follow. He is not only looks handsome, tall, well-dressed, wi
10、th elegant manners, but also full of enthusiasm, he greets people when walking radiant. And rich, well-educated, spotless, extremely fine, he is always the spark star of others. While the poor people have to continue their hard work and living a poor thin life, hoping there would be a little change.

People cannot help crying for this young gentleman. Reminding of the peoples minds with refined and elegant, beautiful Cory, thus, his death is ev

As if tightly wrapped with the beautiful appearance of himself, hes a poem with the surrounding environment we (lower class), but they are in a different world of soul. Delicate features, long

Thats not really Cory, when he said good morning, he wears the mask make people showing glory to him, we face him quite nervous. Cory and “we” not understand each other.
