1、Reflection for the town meeting activityLast Friday, we did an activity related to the short story called The Possibility of Evil. This activity required us to play different roles appeared in the story and these characters were holding a meeting about Miss Strangeworth. The main objective of the me
2、eting was to talk about Miss Strangeworths letters and the solutions towards this situation.At first, the atmosphere was intense since everyone was needed to claim about what happened to them and some people would keep their experience as a secret since they think it as privacy. The role I played wa
3、s Ms. Martha Harper who was insulted by Miss Strangeworths letter in the story, but this role actually had some issues about herself since her appearance was not appropriate compared to her past one. I firstly wanted to claim something good about Miss Strangeworth but the whole atmosphere was intens
4、e that everyone was aiming as and blaming Miss Strangeworth, so it would make me become the same side with Miss Strangeworth if I defended her in front of everyone.As a result, I kept silent at first since I wanted to argue in the favor of Miss Strangeworth. Looking through the whole situation, it w
5、as clear that everyone had their own issues- some are true and some are not proved since everyone dodged the conversation about their issues. It is true that Miss Strangeworth did something against the peoples will that she wrote some private and insulting ideas about some people in the town that we
6、 had to consider her as the evil one. She was thought as the origin of the evil, but we have to admit that she said something insulting and aggressive but probably true about the characters,so everyone was saying that was not their faults and blaming on her. Moving into the solutions part, there wer
7、e a number of radical thoughts such as “isolate her”, “burn down her house”, “ expel her from the town” and even “burn her”. These solutions seem to work but in a radical way. My solution was to send back the letter with some comments about her words because we could easily refute her arguments if w
8、e did not do such things since as the saying goes “If you wanna make the world a better place , take a look at yourself and then make a change.” However , some people turned against me since it seemed that I was defending for Miss Strangeworth and that was unacceptable to them. After a short-while debate, the whole class ended and it was an intense meeting. It turned out that Miss Strangeworth could not thoroughly change the backwardness forever.
