1、Unit 2 If you tell him the truth now, you will show that you are honest.,1. no longer 不再 【点拨】no longer相当于not. any longer，意为“不再”，但两者在句中的位置不同。如： I could wait for him no longer. =I could not wait for him any longer. 我不能再等他了。,2. apologise v. 认错；道歉 【点拨】apologise意为“道歉”，常见的搭配有：apologise to sb.，意为“向某人道歉”；ap
2、ologise for （doing） sth.，意为“因（做）某事而道歉”；apologise to sb. for （doing） sth.，意为“因（做）某事向某人道歉”。如： Toby apologised to Linda for arriving late. 托比因迟到向琳达道歉。,1. The reason is that he thinks something will go wrong if I play games on it. 原因是他认为如果我在上面玩游戏，电脑可能就会出问题。 【点拨】此句句型为：The reason is that+表语从句，意为“原因/理由是”。如
3、： The reason is that she is very rich. 理由是她很富有。,The reason is that she must stay at home to look after her sick mother. 理由是她必须在家照顾生病的母亲。 The reason is that I just want to take a balloon. 要说理由，那就是我想拿个气球。,【延伸】（1）类似的句型：（That is） the reason why.，意为“的原因/理由”。如： That is （the reason） why he raised the quest
4、ion. 那就是他提出这个问题的原因。 Thats the reason why I wrote to him. 那就是我写信给他的原因。 We dont know the reason why they have broken up with each other. 我们不知道他们的关系为何破裂。,（2）reason后接介词for，也可表示“的原因”。如： Whats the reason for the traffic accident? 那场交通事故的原因是什么？,2. 5、ything was OK, some of my dads documents were missing. 然而，当我重启电脑来检查一切是否正常时，我爸爸的一些文件不见了。 【点拨】however作副词，表示转折，尤其用于谈及一个既成事实时，意为“可是；仍然”。可放在句首、句中或句末，通常用逗号与句子其他成分隔开。如：,My father, however, did not agree. 但是，我父亲不同意。 My room is small. However, its comfortable. 我的房间很小，但却很舒服。 He said that it was so. He was mis
6、taken, however. 他说虽然情况如此，可是他是被误解的。,【辨析】but与however 两者都表示转折的意义。但however不能像but那样直接连接两个句子。如： We all tried our best, but we lost the game. =We all tried our best. However, we lost the game. 我们都已尽了最大的努力，不过我们还是输了。,【延伸】（1）however作副词时，还意为“无论如何；不管怎样”，其常用结构为：However+形容词或副词+主语+谓语。此时however与no matter how同义。如： H

8、 to drive there tonight. 不管有多远，我今晚也要开车到那儿去。,（2）however用作连词时可引导方式状语从句，表示“无论以何种方式；不管怎样”。如： However it may be, I shall take your word. 无论如何，我都会相信你的话。 The painting looks wrong however you look at it. 这张画不论你怎么看都会显得不对劲。 However you travel, itll take you at least two days. 无论你怎么个走法，至少都要两天时间,3. .he will be
9、angry with you, but at least you will show that you are honest. 他会生你的气，但至少你能表明自己是诚实的。 【点拨】（1）be angry with sb.表示“生某人的气”。如： I shall be angry with you if you break the cup. 你要是打碎了杯子，我会生气的。,（2）at least表示“至少；起码”。如： The food was not nice, but at least it was cheap. 食物不好吃，但至少便宜。 It will take you at least twenty minutes to get there. 你至少要花20分钟才能到那儿。,
