Mostly they will talk about music. Music is a very popular topic among the students. It will arouse the studentss

7、 great interest. That will be very helpful to practice using the target language based on some beneficial listening and speaking materials which are related to music and singers (P1-P2)and from a comprehensive description of music to singers and movies, that is, an articles about movies (P3), based

8、on some beneficial reading materials related to the feelings of watching the movies, and the other article about Abings works (P6), and a recording clip about Michaels opinions of his favorite movies/band/books etc. with the help of listening, learn to share the students favorite movies/band/books w

9、ith the classmates, improve the abilities of speaking and listening (P5). Consolidate the target language, master the attributive clause with who/that/which by doing some exercises and writing (P4/7-8) . To realize the teaching objectives listed above, the teacher is supposed to analyze Ss needs and

10、 differentiate the contents and ways of teaching in accordance with the analyses. At the biginning of this Unit, arouse students interest in music and let the students take an active part in expressions on music by watching the videos. Naturally, some of them are ready for leaps and challenges and s

11、ome of them are probably not. The teacher, therefore, would think it a good idea to get Ss prepared more than linguistically. Mental encouragement to face the forthcoming challenges and practical guidance in learning strategies would be of great help. Also, as it is the initial experience in learnin

12、g attributive clauses, the teacher and Ss need to form some ideas what abilities each period in a unit should be aimed at polishing. Only in this way can Ss have the tendency to becoming an autonomous learner, which goes along with the general objectives in building comprehensive language competence

13、 as the New Curriculum states. At last, with the aid of the varied resources, such as textbook, workbook, courseware, the Internet, this unit is to be task-based and unfolded period by period as the following:1 In period 1: Speaking and listening. Ss are expected to discuss their favorite kinds of m

14、usic and singers and watch some videos of I AM A SINGER. so as to learn the attributive clause and do listening and groupwork to consolidate the target language, and get ready for learning more about the reading part. The students are learning how to work as team.2 In period 2: reading. Ss are suppp

15、osed to learn how to express perferences on movies. During this process, they are required to practice “skimming and scanning” reading strategies, key words and expressions are to be reinforced after reading.3 In period 3: Listening and speaking. Ss are expected to learn how to dismantle and form at

16、tributive clauses with the help of listening and sharing the favorite movies/band/books with the classmates. In this way, the abilities of speaking and listening are practiced and improved.4 In period 4: Reading. Ss are learning how to admire music by reading the passage of Abing and his works by us

17、ing the reading strategy, noting supporting details. Lead the students to learn more about the history of music.5 In period 5: Writing. Ss are applying what they have learned in this unit into practice. They work in groups to show the students preferences of movies and songs they like and the reason

In terms of language and knowledge, the Ss have learned a lot ab

20、out how to express the preferences of music/movies etc, familiarized themselves with all kinds of music, had some achievements in understanding target language and forming attributive clauses, and have experienced working on a listening, reading and writing task alone and carrying out a project on a

21、 group. In the aspect of attitudes toward learning, learning strategies, and cultural awareness, Ss have also gained some knowledge. For example, most of them actively participated in the process of learning and took a lot of responsibility for the result of it. To my surprise and delight, Ss showed

22、 extraordinary interest in the unit. They tried to come up with unique ideas, and really worked on it. The enthusiasm will carry them a long way, as far as I can see. On the whole, the teaching plans have worked out well, mostly due to the sufficient need analyses. Ill always bear it in mind that Ss

23、 needs are the window of their mind, and getting them deeply involved can double the efficiency of learning and teaching. However, after a week of teaching, Ive come to realize that because of the limited vocabulary, Ss cant express their preferences well. We should increase the students words. And

24、the students cant use who/that/which properly in the attributive clauses. I think Practice makes perfect. Besides, the reading materials are too long and difficult for students to understand. Preview it before the lesson and master the reading skills are good ways. In a word, we should come up with

In order to help Ss consolidate the target language well, and flexibly new sentence patterns in real life situations, we designed a group-work. Have Ss work in groups by using the example conversation in 2d, discuss and sh

30、ow them in different forms, such as making a survey, doing a report, or performing sitcoms ect. Finally, give a prize to the best group. In a word, the whole lesson is a big discussion involving all Ss. Discussion, pair-work and grou-pwork are the main activities, which will improve Ss speaking skil

As a small assignment,Ss are asked to listen to tapes and underline the different kinds of movies circle the movie names. Then e
