6、placed great emphasis on oral English teaching. She found most students would not like to participate in oral expression speaking tasks actively. They seemed nervous and shy. They got used to listening to the teacher, making notes or answering the teachers questions sometimes. The atmosphere in the

The students are 12-13 years old and

9、the class size is large, each having 60 students. The students are experiencing a period of transition from primary school to junior school. The teacher didnt give the students enough opportunities to practice speaking.Students side:Though the students vocabulary is limited, the topics designed and the target language are familiar for to them. Limitations of the traditional communicative approach communicativeCommunicative language teaching approach generated appeared in the 1970s. The goal of language teaching is to

35、 develop communicative competence. It advocates learner-centered principle. Communicative approach is a great reform in language teaching, but still lacks certain comprehensive语义不清. The whole teaching process is the communication circulation between teachers and students, emphasizing interaction bet

36、ween teachers and students, but ignoring interaction between learners, namely students-to-students interaction. 需注明出处。2. Cooperative learning principleCooperative learning is an approach to teaching and learning in which classrooms are organized so that students work together in small cooperative te

Learner-centered ApproachThis approach puts learners at the center of the learning process and attaches grea

39、t importance to learners needs. Learners are seen as being able to assume a more active role than they did in traditional approaches. They are expected to assume greater responsibility for their own learning. Teachers have the responsibility to create an atmosphere in which communication is possible

40、 in which students can feel free to communicate with their partners and are motivated to do so. 4.Induction the principles to speaking teaching National Standards of English Course (Experimental Edition) explicitly indicates: the focus of reform of English course is to change the situation of putti

41、ng more emphasis on grammar and lexical explanations, and of the tendency of overlooking learners language performance on actual occasions. The reform advocates experience, practice, participation, collaborative and communicative learning style and task-oriented approach based on learners interests,

42、 life experience and cognitive level. The overall goal of English teaching in basic education stage is to cultivate students the comprehensive application capability of language.Speaking capacity is an indication of communicative competence. In order to encourage students devote to English speaking

43、with passion and interests to improve their speaking capacity rapidly the teacher must design effective classroom activities and create harmonious ,safe environment to help students to experience and participate. It can stimulate students interests in English speaking, develop their potential, enhan

44、ce self-awareness, improve their abilities to make good use of English, and promote themselves.
