3、1956年當他在譜寫這首著名的反戰歌曲時，靈感是來自一本大戰時代的俄國小說悠悠頓河水（And Quiet Flows The Don），只是他所想傳遞的反戰訊息，卻遭政府當局視為眼中釘，同年的1956年在麥卡錫率領下的不愛美國調查委員會（The House Un-American Activities Committee）中，即將 Pete Seeger 名列在政治黑名單上並長達17年之久，也讓這首好歌在樂迷記憶裡”不見了”。一直到1962年he Kingston Trio三重唱成功的翻唱-花兒不見了，才讓這支朗朗上口的民謠重現於樂迷面前，之後Where Have All The Flower
