It is one of a set of tests for electric cables

11、 included in the AS/NZS 1660 series. Details of the series are given in Appendix A. The objective of this Standard is to provide manufacturers and testers with appropriate test methods for electric conductors and metallic components. This edition of the Standard differs from the 1993 edition as foll

12、ows: (a)The number of wires to be tested has been specified. (b)Measurement of the diameter of conductor and armour wires has been separately specified. (c)This edition is published as a Joint Australian/New Zealand Standard. The term informative has been used in this Standard to define the applicat

13、ion of the appendix to which it applies. An informative appendix is only for information and guidance. 26、articular types of cables, cords and conductors specify which tests from the range herein are applicable, and also the category of and criteria for such tests. 28、 given in the relevant cable Standards apply. 1.5TESTING TEMPERATUREUnless otherwise specified, all tests shall be carried out in an ambient temperature of 23 5C. 1.6SELECTION OF SPECIMENSAll specimens used for testing shall be taken at least 300 mm from the end of a factory length of finished cable

29、, flexible cable or flexible cord. Unless otherwise specified the number of individual wires to be tested shall be the square root of the number of wires in the conductor or armour rounded to the nearest whole number. 30、1998 S E C T I O N2T E N S I L ES T R E N G T HA N D E L O N G A T I O NT E S T S 2.1CONDUCTOR OR ARMOURThe test for tensile strength and elongation of conductor or armour wires shall be applied to the whole conductor for solid conductors, and to wires taken at random from bunched or stranded circul

31、ar non-compacted, non-compressed conductors and armour wires. The sample of conductor or wire, as appropriate, shall be straightened so as to achieve an original gauge length of 200 mm to 250 mm. The sample shall be mounted in a suitable testing machine and the load applied gradually and uniformly u

32、ntil fracture. The rate of separation of the jaws of the testing machine shall be not greater than 2 mm/s. The maximum load shall be recorded and the tensile strength calculated using the average diameter. If the specified value is reached, the test shall be valid, whatever the position of fracture.

33、 If the specified value is not reached, the test shall be valid only if the fracture occurs not closer than 25 mm to either grip of the testing machine. The elongation shall then be measured on the gauge length after the fractured ends have been fitted together. If the specified value is reached, th

34、e test shall be valid, whatever the position of fracture. If the specified value is not reached, the test shall be valid only if the fracture occurs between the gauge marks, and not closer than 25 mm to either grip of the testing machine. 2.2TINSEL CONDUCTORSFor the tensile test of tinsel conductors

35、, five samples of the conductor shall be selected. Each sample shall have a length sufficient to allow 250 mm of conductor to be held between the grips of the testing machine. Each sample shall be mounted in turn in a suitable tensile testing machine, and the load applied gradually and maintained at

36、 a uniform rate of between 1.25 mm/s and 2 mm/s until fracture occurs. The maximum load shall be recorded. If the specified load is reached, the test shall be valid whatever the position of the fracture. If the specified value is not reached, the test shall be valid only if the fracture occurs not c

37、loser than 25 mm to either grip of the testing machine. 38、es taken at random from hard-drawn stranded circular non-compressed non-compacted conductors or armour. The test is not applicable to other types of conductor. Each sample of conductor or wire, as appropriate, shall be wrapped around a conductor or wire of its own diameter to form a close helix of e

39、ight turns. Six turns shall be unwrapped and again closely wrapped in the same direction. If the sample breaks during the test, such breakage shall be recorded. 40、TINUITY TEST FOR TIN OR SILVER PLATING 4.1.1ApplicationThe continuity test for tin or silver plating shall be applied to the whole conductor for solid circular conductors, and to wires taken at random from bunched conductors or from the outer layer of stranded or compacted conductors. 4.1.2Preparati

41、on of samplesA suitable length of conductor or wire, as appropriate, shall be taken from the cable sample and cut into shorter specimens. The test specimens shall be thoroughly cleaned with a suitable solvent, e.g. petroleum ether, and wiped dry with a clean soft cloth or tissue. The end of each wir

42、e portion should be completely coated with wax to protect the exposed copper. The total length of each test specimen shall be calculated using the formula L = 300/d, where d is the nominal wire diameter, both L and d being expressed in millimetres. The wax coated ends shall not be included when dete

43、rmining the length L. 4.1.3Special solutionsThe following special test solutions are used: (a)Testsolution(ammoniumpersulphate)Dissolve10 g 0.1 gofammonium persulphate (NH4)2S2O8crystals containing not less than 95 percent of ammonium persulphate in 500 ml of distilled water. Add 75 ml 2 ml of chemi

44、cally pure solution of ammonia (density = 0.88 0.91) and dilute to 1 L with distilled water. The ammonium persulphate shall be freshly prepared each day that tests are to be conducted and shall not be subjected to temperatures above 35C. (b)Referencecolourstandard(coppersulphate-ammoniumhydroxide)Di

45、ssolve 0.200 g of anhydrous copper sulphate (CuSO4) in distilled water. Add 75 ml 2 ml of a chemically pure solution of ammonia (density = 0.88 0.91) and dilute to 1 L with distilled water. 4.1.4Test procedureThe procedure shall be as follows: (a)Immerse each specimen of the required length L in 100

46、 ml of the test solution, at a temperature of 23 3C for a period of 15 min using a Nessler test tube of appropriate dimensions as a container. (b)Remove the specimen, and compare the test solution with an equal depth of the reference colour standard contained in a similar test tube. Make the colour

47、comparison by viewing the solutions lengthwise through the open ends of the test tubes. 4.2CONTINUITY TEST FOR NICKEL PLATING 4.2.1ApplicationThe continuity test for nickel coating shall be applied to the whole conductor for solid circular conductors, or to wires taken at random from bunched conduct

48、ors, or from the outer layer of stranded conductors. 4.2.2Preparation of specimensA specimen of conductor or wire, as appropriate, approximately 150 mm long, shall be taken from the cable sample. Each specimen shall be thoroughly cleaned with a suitable solvent, e.g. petroleum ether, and wiped dry w

49、ith a clean, soft cloth or tissue. The specimens thus cleaned shall be kept wrapped in a clean dry cloth or tissue until tested. That part of the specimen to be immersed in the test solution shall not be handled. Care should be taken to avoid abrasion by the cut ends.
