RESEARCH PROBLEM STATEMENT The combustion of aviation fuel has an impact on global climate change by generating CO2 emissions. Given the increasingly high intensity of the contemp

3、orary air transportation, there is an urgent need to thoroughly understand its impacts on energy use and climate change which are notable at a national and global scale. This project proposes research to address the regional and global impacts of the U.S. domestic aviation system with a focus on air

4、port costs and operations and an emphasis on revenue potential through the carbon credit market. III. OBJECTIVE Examine the structure of carbon credit markets and how they may affect airport costs, operations, and may offer revenue potential. IV. RESEARCH PROPOSED Examine world regulations, proposed

5、 U.S. legislation, and airline practice for control and reduction of GHG emissions. Summarize and develop scenarios for how carbon credit markets may work for airports. Examine practices from inside and outside the aviation industry, both domestic and international and recommend best practice for ai

6、rports. V. ESTIMATE OF THE PROBLEM FUNDING AND RESEARCH PERIOD Recommended Funding: $400,000 Research Period: 18 months, including 3 months for review and revision of a draft final report. VI.
