5、er criteria for approval have been met by the standards developer. Consensus is established when, in the judgment of the ANSI Board of Standards Review, substantial agreement has been reached by directly and materially affected interests. Substantial agreement means much more than a simple majority,

6、 but not necessarily unanimity. Consensus requires that all views and objections be considered, and that a concerted effort be made toward their resolution. The use of American National Standards is completely voluntary; their existence does not in any respect preclude anyone, whether he has approve

This standard specifies the composition of plastics used for the manufac- ture of 135-size canister bottoms in order to facilitate the recycling of these components when their useful life is over. The standard also notes the conventions for labeling th

15、e canister for recycling purposes. NAPM Technical Committee IT1 2, Imaging Materials Recyclability, created a Task Force in mid-1993 to specifically address the 135-size canister bot- tom recyclability. This standard is the result of their work. This standard contains one annex which is for informat

16、ion only and is not considered part of this standard. Suggestions for improvement of this standard will be welcome. 22、 Introduction Film for 135-size cameras is normally provided in canisters. These canis- ters can be returned to the photofinisher with the film in them, thus making the photofinisher responsible for the disposal of the canisters. From an ecological point of view, it is desirable to be able to recycl

23、e the materials. This can be facilitated if there is common usage of materials. 25、This standard specifies the material composi- tion for film canister bottoms for the 135-size film format products. The standard also speci- fies limitations on materials used for pigment- ing the canisters. 2 Normative references The following standard and publication con- tain provisions which, th

28、ons 3.1 Composition The material for use in film canister bottoms shall be high density polyethylene (homopoly- mer or copolymer type). 3.2 Pigments Matter used to color film canisters shall not intentionally (by formulation) contain any heavy metals (e.g., lead, mercury, hexavalent chromium, cadmiu

29、m). 4 Material identification Film canister bottoms may be identified in accordance with the most recent SPI voluntary resin identification code or in accordance with the appropriate IS0 resin code system (see IS0 11 469) by engraving the symbol into the injection molds used to manufacture film cani

30、s- ters. The size of the symbol may be smaller than specified in the SPI voluntary standard.
