The scope is correctly presented as

2、 a synthesis. The research budget is more than necessary for a synthesis project. 3、ves facing more and more scrutiny on environmental matters in coming years. The proposed budget and period of performance are appropriate to the focused nature of the undertaking. 4、anel supports any collection of innovative funding alternatives but would consider this scope as a synthesis of practice, rather than broader research. Research Problem Statement Many opportunities exist for airports and airlines to obtain funding for airport environmental projects, including well-know

6、n sources of Federal Aviation Administration funding and new sources of funding that many operators are unaware of. An ACRP synthesis project would be an good opportunity to identify and categorize the many sources of funding for airport environmental projects. The project would be an ideal opportun

7、ity to compile information regarding innovative sources of funding and provide the information in a synthesized format for airport operators and users. Comprehensively identifying funding opportunities for airport environmental projects is critical during the current economic downturn where projects

8、 are getting cut and staff members have limited resources and time to identify available funding opportunities. The resulting product will serve as a useful resource now and into the future. III. Objective The objective of this synthesis project is to provide airport operators and users with a compr

9、ehensive tool for identifying potential sources of funding for airport environmental projects. The resulting product should also provide detailed steps for successfully obtaining funds under each program identified. IV. Research Proposed The research for this project will include a review of federal

10、 and state funding opportunities for environmental projects including airport environmental projects and other environmental projects not specifically associated with the airport industry. V. Estimate of the Problem Funding and Research Period a. Recommended Funding: The recommended funding for this

11、 project is $200,000. b. Research Period: The research for this project should be conducted over a 12 month period. VI. Urgency and Payoff Potential The potential for payoff for this project is significant, since the project will provide airport operators with a series of funding alternatives, this

12、project may result in important environmental projects being carried out that would otherwise be postponed. The value of this research will be significant for all stakeholders, but particularly so for airports that do not have the resources or experience to identify all of the potential sources of f

13、unding. Finally, this project will be of significant benefit to airports and 2 airlines as a means for identifying new and innovative methods for funding airport environmental projects. VII. Related Research Information regarding various funding opportunities is available, but a synthesis of opportu

14、nities for airport environmental projects has not been conducted. The existing information about funding opportunities will be used for input into the synthesis process. VIII.
