16、ted without license from IHS -,-,- FOREWORD This Foreword is for information only, and is not a part of the American National Stan- dard Preferred Earhook Nozzle Thread for Postauricular Hearing Aids, ANSI 53.37-1 987 (ASA Catalog No. 69-1 987). A postauricular hearing aid normally incorporates a pl

17、astic earhook that is used to couple its output to an earmold. Such plastic earhooks are snapped or screwed onto a nozzle attached to the tip of the hous- ing of the postauricular hearing aid. Due to the finite lifetime of the plastic in the earhooks, hearing aid dispensers are frequently required t

18、o replace these earhooks from time to time should cracking or leaking occur. Earhook nozzles that are threaded have widely incorporated a 5-40 UNC-2A thread. Provision is made in this standard for both the stan- dard 5-40 thread and a modified 5-40 thread without undercut, of which the latter is sai

19、d to help in preventing acoustic leakage. Accredited Standards Committee S3, Bioacoustics, under whose juris- diction this standard was developed, has the following scope: Standards, specifications, methods of measurement and test, and terminology, in the fields of physical acoustics, including arch
