2、ermination of the moisture content of a soil as a percentage of its dry mass using a system of infrared lights. The infrared lights method is a rapid method, and is considered less accurate than the standard method (see AS 1289.2.1.1). This method is not suitable for soils containing gypsum, calcare

(b) A system of one or more lights with 250 W infrared globes with each globe having approximately 150 mm clearance above a container

6、 base. NOTE: The infrared light system used should comply with the appropriate requirements of AS 2243.7. (c) Suitable balance with limit of performance as shown in Table 1. 8、epare a suitable size representative subsample in accordance with AS 1289.1.1. (b) Determine the mass of a clean and dry container (ma). Place a subsample of soil in the container and determine the mass of the container and wet soil (mb). (c) Place the container under an infrared globe and turn on t

(e) Remove the container from beneath the globe and allow the container and contents to cool until the container is warm to touc

10、h. (f) Determine the mass of the container and dry soil (mic). (g) Replace the container with the soil underneath the globe and then dry for at least a further 10 min and repeat Steps (e) and (f). (h) Repeat Step (g) until the loss of mass in the soil between successive drying periods is less than 0
