14、tandard is the first revision in metric terms of BS 1977 and is one of a series of standards for copper for electrical purposes, the others being BS 1432, BS 1433, BS 1434, BS 4109 and BS 4608. This standard covers only high conductivity copper tubes for electrical purposes while tubes for general p

15、urposes are covered by BS 2871. The tolerances specified in this standard are in line with BS 2871. An extension of the size range of up to 400 mm outside diameter has been made and an additional material designation C110 complying with the requirements of BS 1954 is also included in this revision.

16、Due regard has been given to the work of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) on testing requirements, properties etc. Certification. Attention is drawn to the certification facilities described on the inside back cover of this standard. A British Standard does not purport to inc

Compliance with a British Standard does not of itself confer immunity from legal obligations. Summary of pages This document comprises a front cover, an inside front cover, page

When mechanical tests are specified by the purchaser, tubes of any one composition, size, thickness and temper shall be grouped in batches of 300 tubes or 1 300 kg, whichever is the greater mass, and the purchaser or his representative shall take at random one tube from each batch and any remai

Tensile tests shall be made on pieces of tube tested in full section or on longitudinal strips cut from any part of the tube. The tests shall be made in accordance with BS 18-1 and the values obtai

41、ned shall comply with the appropriate requirements given in Table 1. 10.2 Flattening test (for round tubes not exceeding 108 mm outside diameter). The test piece shall be annealed before flattening unless the tube is supplied in the annealed condition. A piece of the tube shall be flattened down unt

The test piece shall be annealed before flattening unless the tube is supplied in the annealed condition. A test piece 50 mm wide shall be cut l

The test piece shall then have its ends bent through 180 in opposite directions and doubled up close, as shown in Figure 2 without s

The volume resistivity, if specified by the purchaser, shall be determined in accordance with one of the methods given in BS 3239. The routine method shall ordinarily be used but in the case of dispute the reference method shall

45、be used. The volume resistivity shall be determined by one of the following methods in accordance with Table 5: a) by direct measurement on the tubes; or b) on wire drawn from the tubes and annealed. 11.2 Results. The standard value at 20 C for the volume resistivity of annealed high conductivity co

The volume resistivity of the material measured in accordance with 11.1 and using the factors given in Table 6 and Table 7 shall not exceed the appropriate values given in Table 5. 47、gassing or hydrogen embrittlement test if specified by the purchaser shall be made on material C103 and C110 only. This test is not applicable in cases where the material C110 is also required to comply with BS 3839. The test shall be made on a test piece of convenient size (full section or a strip

48、cut from the tube) which shall not be flattened before testing. When a strip is used the edges shall be carefully rounded and smoothed longitudinally.
