Condition all test specimens in accordance with method.4 (me* Bs 3424 : Part 2)* 5. Method -13A. International (stacking) meth

5、od 5.1 Apparatus 5.1 .I Two glass plates, approximately -1 12 mm x 1 12 mm x 3 mm. 5.1.3 Circulating air oven, of such a size that the total volume of the test assemblies doesnot exceed ,IO % of the free air-space of the oven. Provision shal be made. for placing the test assemblies on shelves so the

6、yare not less than 50 mm from each other or from the sides of the oven. The nature of the source of heat is optional but the source shall be located in the air supply of the oven. s. Foreword . Blocking tests at elevated temperatures are designed to estimate-the relative resis!ance of fabrics coated

The procedure described in method 13A has been included in this revision ih order to-provide users and manufacturers with the details necessary to conduct the test in accordance with the requirements of.

The procedure describedin method 138 however is the one recommended for should be used in at!-British Standard product specifica- . tions i n which resistance to blocking is to be specified. This Part supersedes method 13of BS 3424 : 1973. . Compliance with a British Standard does not of

9、itself confer immunity from legal.obligations. _ . 1. Scope , - 5.1.2 Weight-piece, of mass 2.0 kg. This Part of this British Standard describes the means of determining the resistance-to blocking of coated fabrics. NOTE. The titles of the publications referred to in this Part ar8 listed on page 3.

12、t overheating and dead-spots. 5.2 Preparation of test specimens. Cut from the sample six test specimens, each 1 O0 mm x 1 O0 mm at least 100 mm from the selvedge and not within 1 m of the end of the roll, Cut specimens with one edge parallel to the longitudinal axis of the sample. 5.3 Procedure. Arr

13、ange the specimens in pairs, back to back, face to face, and back to face, to form a pile 100 mm square, Place the specimens thus arranged between two glass plates. Place the 2.0 kg weight-piece on the top plate in a position to ensure an even distribution of pressure. Expose the assembled test spec

14、imens to a temperature of 70 f 2 OC in the circulating air oven for a period of 6 h. Immediately upon removal of the assembled test specimens from the oven, remove the weightlpiece and glass plates, without disturbing the test specimens, and allow to cool at room temperature for 30 min. Carefully se

15、parate the test specimens and examine them for adherence or peeling of the coatings, 5.4 Test report. The test report shall include the following particulars: (a) the description of the coated fabric, including identification of the sample; (b) the degree of blocking, described in the following mann

16、er: (1) No blocking if the coated surfaces separate without any evidence of adhering, or, (2) Slight blocking if some adherence of the coated surfaces takes place on separation but without damage to the coating, or, . (3) Blocking if the coated surfaces are difficult to separate or the coating or pa

17、rt of the coating is removed during separation; (cl any damage or marking of the surface coatings not reported in (b); (d) details of any deviation from the standard test procedure, . 6. Method 13B. National (weight-piece drag) method 6.1 Apparatus 6.1.1 Oven, suitable for maintaining the test speci

18、mens at a temperature of 60 f 1 OC, or other temperatures as may be specified in particular specifications, Provision shall be made for placing the test assemblies on shelves so that they are not less than 50 mm from each other or from the sides of the oven. 6.1.2 Weight-piece, with a flat base 75 m

19、m x 75 mm, slightly radiused on the lower edges and having a mass of 1.5 kg. 6.1.3 Weight-piece, of mass 100 g. 6.2 Preparation of test specimens. Cut from the sample two strips of coated fabric each 150 mm x 75 mm, both with their length in the same longitudinal or transverse direction of the sampl

20、e but so taken that the distance between the specimens and the distance between a specimen and the edge of the sample is approximately the same. 6 . 3 Procedure. Place the specimens together coated face to coated face, so that their edges coincide exactly. Heat the 1.5 kg weight-piece to 60 C. Place

21、 the coincident specimens on a flat surface in an oven maintained at 60 f 1 “C. NOTE 1. For specialized applications other temperatures may be more appropriate, in which case the temperature used should be reported. Place the 1 .$ kg weight-piece in the oven over half the coincident specimens, at on

22、e of the ends. After the test specimens have been exposed in the oven for 15 min remove carefully the 1.5 kg weight-piece and the coincident specimens from the area, taking care to avoid separating the coated surfaces. Place the coincident specimens on a horizontal surface and allow to cool for 10 m

23、in at room temperature, NOTE 2. For specialized applications, other periods of exposure in the oven may be more appropriate, in which case the period of exposure should be reported. Attach firmly across the full width of?he free end of the lower strip of coated fabric the 100 g weight-piece, Grip th

24、e full width of the free end of the upper strlp of coated fabric and raise, without jerking, at a nominal rate of 25 mm/s. If required repeat this procedure with new specimens arranged face to back and/or back to back, 6.4 Test report. The test report shall include the following particulars: (a) the

25、 description of the coated fabric; (b) whether or not the surfaces of the pair of test specimens separate without lifting the 100 g weight-piece and whether or not they have suffered any visible damage; (cl details of any deviations from the standard test procedure. 2 r 9 Publications referred to BS
