、the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC) who wish to take part in a harmonized System for electronic components of assessed quality. The Object of the System is to facilitate international trade by the harmonization of the specifications and quality assessment procedures

、 for electronic components, and by the grant of an internationally recognized Mark, or Certificate, of Conformity. The components produced under the System are thereby accepted by all member countries without further testing. This specification has been formally approved by the CECC, and has been pr

、epared for those countries taking part in the System who wish to issue national harmonized specifications for FIXED CAPACITORS WITH METALLIZED ELECTRODES AND POLYPROPYLENE DIELECTRIC. It should be read in conjunction with document CECC 00100: Basic Rules (1974). At the date of printing of this docum

、ent the member countries of the CECC are Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, and copies of it can be obtained from the addressees shown on the inside cover. Preface This sectional specification was prepared by CECC W

、orking Group 3: Capacitors. It is one of a series of sectional specifications all relating to the generic specification CECC 30000. In accordance with the requirements of document CECC 00100 it is based, wherever possible, on the Recommendations of the International Electrotechnical Commission. As t

、here are more than nine sectional specifications related to CECC 30000: generic specification, Fixed Capacitors, the CECC Management Committee decided that these extra specifications should be numbered in the series 31100, 31200, 31300 etc. There is no generic specification numbered 31000. This spec

、ification is an example of this extended numbering series. It is based on CECC 30000 and all clause etc, cross references are based on this generic specification. The text of this specification was circulated to the CECC for voting in the documents listed below and was ratified by the CECC Managemen

General 1.1 Scope This specification relates to fixed capacitors with metallized electrodes and polypropylene dielectric. It pres

、cribes preferred ratings and characteristics and selects from CECC 30000 the appropriate quality assessment procedure, tests and measuring methods, and gives general performance requirements for this sub-family of capacitors. These capacitors may have “self-healing properties” depending on condition

、s of use. They are mainly intended for use with direct voltage. Capacitors for alternating voltage and pulse applications will be covered by supplements to this document or a separate document. The maximum power to be applied is 500 VAR at 50 Hz and the maximum peak voltage is 2 500 V. Two performan

、ce grades of capacitors are covered by this specification, Grade 1 for long-life application and Grade 2 for normal application. Capacitors for direct connection to the supply mains to provide radio interference suppression are not included. 1.2 Related documents 1.3 Information to be given in a det

Detail specifications shall not specify requirements inferior to those of the generic or sectional specification. When more severe requirements are included, they shall be listed in the detail spec

The value of the peak a.c. voltage allowed at different frequencies is under consideration. 1.5 Marking 1.5.1 The information given in the marking is normally selected from the following list;

、the relative importance of each item is indicated by its position in the list: 1) Rated capacitance. (May be indicated by the code given in IEC 62). 2) Rated voltage: (d.c. voltage may be indicated by the symbol or). 3) Tolerance on rated capacitance. (May be indicated by the code given i IEC 62). 4

、) Year and month (or week) of manufacture. (May be indicated by one of the codes given in IEC 62). 5) Manufacturers name or trade mark. 6) Climatic category. 7) Manufacturers type designation. 8) National number of the DS, date of issue and any further information required by the national system, to

、gether with any amendment numbers, if issued. 1.5.2 The capacitor shall be clearly marked with 1), 2) and 3) above and with as many as possible of the remaining items as is considered necessary. Any duplication of information in the marking on the capacitor should be avoided. 1.5.3 The package conta
