8、language version of EN 60335-2-55, Safety of household and similar electrical appliances: Part 2: Particular requirements for electrical appliances for use with aquariums and garden ponds, including its corrigendum, published by the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC).

9、It was derived by CENELEC from IEC 335-2-55:1989 published by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). The CENELEC common modifications have been implemented at the appropriate places in the text and are indicated by a side line in the margin. Parts of the original IEC text that have bee

10、n modified by CENELEC have been quoted in National annex NA. This British Standard is to be read in conjunction with BS 3456-201:1990 General requirements, including only those amendments shown in the following table that are marked with an asterisk, which supplement and modify BS 3456-201. BS 3456-

11、201 is the English language version of EN 60335-1 which was derived from IEC 335-1, including Amendments No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3. This British Standard partially supersedes BS 3456-3.21:1981 (obsolescent) which will be withdrawn on publication of the new Part 2: Section 74 for portable immersion heat

12、ers (draft for public comment 91/32077 DC). Product approval. Attention is drawn to the fact that products conforming to this British Standard may be approved by the British Electrotechnical Approvals Board for the purposes of participation in the CENELEC Certification Agreement and the CB Scheme of

Th

26、is proposal was discussed during the Stockholm meeting in November/December 1989, when it was decided to submit a draft for EN 60335-2-55 to the voting procedure. This procedure started in July 1990 but the draft did not receive sufficient support. The comments were discussed during the Athens meeti

27、ng in November 1990 and the Brussels meeting in November 1991 when it was decided to submit a second draft for EN 60335-2-55 to the voting procedure. This draft was circulated in September 1992 and was ratified by CENELEC on 9 March 1993. This European Standard has been prepared by the secretariat o

28、f CENELEC Technical Committee TC 61. The following dates are applicable: For aquarium heaters which have complied with HD 262 S1:1976 and its amendments and for other products which have complied with the relevant national standard before 1995-12-01, as shown by the manufacturer or by a certificatio

29、n body, this previous standard may continue to apply for production until 2000-12-01. This standard has to be used in conjunction with EN 60335-1:1988, Safety of household and similar electrical appliances, Part 1: General requirements, including its amendments A2:1988, A5:1989, A6:1991, A51:1991, A

30、52:1992, A53:1992, A54:1992 and A55:1993. Where a particular subclause of Part 1 is not mentioned in this Part 2, that subclause applies as far as is reasonable. 39、clause of Part 1 is applicable except as follows: 1.1 Replacement: This standard applies to electrical appliances for use with aquariums and garden ponds. Examples of appliances within the scope of this standard are: aerators; sludge-suction appliances; heaters; automatic food dispensers. This stand

40、ard does not take into account the special hazards which exist in nurseries and other places where there are young children or aged or infirm persons without supervision; in such cases, additional requirements may be necessary. This standard does not apply to: appliances designed exclusively for pro

41、fessional use; appliances intended to be used in locations where special conditions prevail, such as the presence of a corrosive or explosive atmosphere (dust, vapour or gas); appliances intended for outdoor use having a rated input exceeding 100 W; electric pumps within the scope of EN 60335-2-41;

42、luminaires for aquariums or garden ponds, which are covered by EN 60598-2-18. For appliances intended to be used in vehicles or on board ships or aircraft, additional requirements may be necessary. For appliances intended to be used in tropical countries, special requirements may be necessary. Atten

43、tion is drawn to the fact that in many countries additional requirements are specified by the national health authorities and the national authorities responsible for the protection of labour. 2 Definitions This clause of Part 1 is applicable except as follows: 2.2.29 Replacement: Conditions of adeq

44、uate heat discharge denotes the conditions that apply when the heater is operated with the maximum quantity of water specified by the manufacturer. 2.2.30 Replacement: Normal load denotes the load obtained when the motor-operated appliance is operated under the following conditions: Aerators and slu

45、dge-suction appliances are operated with the outlet free and at the maximum permissible depth of immersion or at 1 m, whichever results in the greater input. Automatic food dispensers are operated with the dispenser initially filled with the maximum quantity of food. 2.2.48 Addition: The term “body”

46、 also includes accessible metal parts in the output circuit of safety isolating transformers. Additional definitions: 2.2.101 aerator denotes an appliance intended to increase the oxygen content of the water in an aquarium or pond by pumping air into the water aerators may also be used for water cir

47、culation 2.2.102 sludge-suction appliance denotes a hand-held appliance intended to remove deposits from aquariums or ponds 3 General requirement This clause of Part 1 is applicable. 4 General notes on tests This clause of Part 1 is applicable except as follows: 4.2 Addition: For Class II watertight

48、 appliances, an additional sample is required for the tests of Sub-clause 21.1. 5 Rating This clause of Part 1 is applicable except as follows: 5.1 Modification: The maximum rated voltage for Class III appliances is 24 V. 6 Classification This clause of Part 1 is applicable. 7 Marking This clause of

49、 Part 1 is applicable except as follows: 7.1 Addition: Aerators and sludge-suction appliances having parts not intended to be used in water shall be marked with the substance of the following warning: Do not immerse in water.
