11、0335-2-52:1996 Safety of household and similar electrical appliances Part 2: Particular requirements for oral hygiene appliances, published by the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC). It is identical with IEC 335-2-52:1994 (fourth edition) published by the International

12、 Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). The national differences taken from the preface to IEC 335-2-52:1994 are quoted in national annex NA. The foreword of EN 60335-2-52 makes reference to the date of withdrawal, dow, of the relevant national standard. In this case the relevant national standard is BS

13、 EN 60335-2-52:1991 which will be withdrawn on 1 January 1999 in accordance with CENELEC Internal Regulations. Certificates and marks will not be awarded after this date with regard to the withdrawn British Standard. However such certificates and marks, already awarded, may continue to apply to prod

14、uction until 1 January 2004. This British Standard is to be read in conjunction with BS EN 60335-1:1995 General requirements. The many references to Part 1 should be read as references to BS EN 60335-1:1995, which is the English language version of EN 60335-1:1994 which was derived from IEC Publicat

15、ion 335-1, third edition 1991, second impression 1993. Amendments and revisions of Part 1 have also to be taken into account and the dates when such changes become applicable will be stated in the relevant amendment or revision of Part 1. Product approval. Attention is drawn to the fact that product

16、s conforming to this British Standard may be approved by the British Electrotechnical Approvals Board for the purposes of participation in the CENELEC Certification Agreement and in the CB Scheme of the IECEE. (Details of the BEAB Approvals Scheme are given on the inside back cover.) A British Stand

This proposal was discussed during the Dublin meeting in May 1995, when it was

27、 decided to submit a draft for EN 60335-2-52 to the formal vote. This draft was circulated in January 1996 and was ratified by CENELEC as EN 60335-2-52 on 1996-07-02. This European Standard has been prepared by the secretariat of CENELEC Technical Committee TC 61. The following dates are applicable:

28、 For products which have complied with EN 60335-2-52:1991 before 1999-01-01, as shown by the manufacturer or by a certification body, this previous standard may continue to apply for production until 2004-01-01. This standard has to be used in conjunction with EN 60335-1, Safety of household and sim

29、ilar electrical appliances, Part 1: General requirements. It was established on the basis of the 1994 edition of that standard. Amendments and revisions of Part 1 have also to be taken into account and the dates when such changes become applicable will be stated in the relevant amendment or revision

30、 of Part 1. This Part 2 supplements or modifies the corresponding clauses of EN 60335-1, so as to convert it into the European Standard: Safety requirements for electric oral hygiene appliances. Where a particular subclause of Part 1 is not mentioned in this Part 2, that subclause applies as far as

31、is reasonable. Where this standard states “addition”, “modification” or “replacement”, the relevant text of Part 1 is to be adapted accordingly. Subclauses which are additional to those in Part 1 are numbered starting with 101. There are no special national conditions causing a deviation from this E

32、uropean Standard, other than those listed in annex ZA to EN 60335-1. There are no national deviations from this European Standard, other than those listed in annex ZB to EN 60335-1. 38、cope This clause of part 1 is replaced by: This standard deals with the safety of electric oral hygiene appliances for household and similar purposes, their rated voltage being not more than 250 V. NOTE 1Examples of appliances covered by this standard are tooth brushes; oral irrigators. So far as is

39、 practicable, this standard deals with the common hazards presented by appliances which are encountered by all persons in and around the home. This standard does not in general take into account the use of appliances by young children or infirm persons without supervision; playing with the appliance

40、 by young children. NOTE 2Attention is drawn to the fact that: for appliances intended to be used in vehicles or on board ships or aircraft, additional requirements may be necessary; for appliances intended to be used in tropical countries special requirements may be necessary; in many countries add

41、itional requirements are specified by the national health authorities, the national authorities responsible for the protection of labour and similar authorities. NOTE 3This standard does not apply to appliances for medical purposes (IEC 601). 2 Definitions This clause of part 1 is applicable except

42、as follows: 2.2.9 Replacement: normal operation appliances are operated under the following conditions oral irrigators are operated with the container filled with water having a temperature approximately 45 C, to the level specified in the instructions for use. In the absence of such instructions, t

43、he container is filled to the maximum level other appliances are operated without load 3 General requirement This clause of part 1 is applicable. 4 General conditions for the tests This clause of part 1 is applicable. 5 Void 6 Classification This clause of part 1 is applicable except as follows: 6.1

44、 Replacement: Appliances shall be of class II or class III. Parts held in the hand shall be of class III construction, the working voltage not exceeding 24 V. Compliance is checked by inspection and by the relevant tests. 6.2 Addition: Class II appliances shall be IPX7. However, parts which are inte

45、nded to be fixed and transformers with pins for insertion into socket-outlets, may be IPX4. Class III appliances shall be at least IPX4. However, if the rated voltage does not exceed 24 V, they may be IPX0. 7 Marking and instructions This clause of part 1 is applicable except as follows: 7.12.1 Addi

46、tion: The instructions shall state that parts which have to be fixed must be fixed so that they cannot fall into water. NOTEThis does not apply to parts of IPX7 construction. 8 Protection against access to live parts This clause of part 1 is applicable. 9 Starting of motor-operated appliances This c

47、lause of part 1 is not applicable. 10 Power input and current This clause of part 1 is applicable. 11 Heating This clause of part 1 is applicable except as follows: 11.7 Replacement: Appliances are operated for five cycles, each cycle comprising an operating period of 3 min and a rest period of 1 mi

48、n. During the rest period, the container of oral irrigators is refilled. NOTEIf the container empties during the operating period, it is refilled and the test is continued.
