The object of this test is to detail a standard method to as

24、ses the performance of mated contact pairs of connectors with an electrical overload current flowing through them for a limited period of time, in the order of 1 ms to 1 s. NOTEPractice shows that for limited periods of time contacts can conduct a multiple of the maximum permissible current without

25、damage to the contact area. Transient surge currents, ranging from 1 ms to 1 s in time, may flow through connectors before protective circuits respond, for example, when a fault occurs in equipment or in a system. 2 Normative reference The following normative document contains provisions which, thro

26、ugh reference in this text, constitute provisions of this section of IEC 512-10. At the time of publication, the edition indicated was valid. All normative documents are subject to revision, and parties to agreements based on this section of IEC 512-10 are encouraged to investigate the possibility o

Contacts of the same size in a connector set shall be wired in series. The connectors shal

Recovery under test conditions is required between two consecutive tests. This conditioning shall be repeated for a total of eight cycles for each circ

This should not be considered as a defect if the performance is not affected. 4.3 Final measurements and requirements (if applicable) The specimen shall be subjected to the following test sequence

32、 (IEC 512 series) and shall meet the requirements of the detail specification: a) contact resistance at specified current (test 2b); b) measurement of insulation resistance (test 3a); c) voltage proof test (test 4a); d) unmating forces (as per tests 13a and 13b); e) visual examination (test 1a). 5 D

33、etails to be specified When this test is required by the detail specification, the following details shall be specified: a) number of contact sets to be tested; b) type and size of wire used; c) initial measurements (if applicable); d) current and voltage to be applied to each circuit; e) duration o
