7、dization (CENELEC). It is identical with IEC 623:1990 including A1:1992 and A2:1992, published by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). The foreword of the EN makes reference to the “date of withdrawal”, dow, of the relevant national standard. In this case the relevant national standa

8、rd is BS 6260:1982 which is withdrawn. A British Standard does not purport to include all the necessary provisions of a contract. General 1.1 Scope This International Standard specifies tests and requirements for vented nickel-cadmium prismatic

25、 secondary single cells. NOTEIn this context, “prismatic” refers to cells having rectangular sides and base. When there exists an IEC standard specifying test conditions and requirements for cells used in special applications and which is in conflict with this standard, the former shall take precede

26、nce. 1.2 Normative references The following standard contains provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this International Standard. 29、l converters. 1.3 Definitions For the purpose of this International Standard, the following definitions apply: 1.3.1 vented cell a secondary cell having a cover provided with an opening through which gaseous products may escape NOTEThe opening may be fitted with a venting system. 1.3.2 nominal volta

30、ge the nominal voltage of a vented nickel-cadmium rechargeable single cell is 1,2 V 1.3.3 rated capacity the quantity of electricity C5 in Ah (ampere-hours) declared by the manufacturer which a single cell can deliver at the 5 h discharge rate to a final voltage of 1,0 V at + 20 C after charging, st

31、oring and discharging under conditions specified in section 4 1.4 Measuring instruments The measuring instruments used for the tests shall be selected according to the magnitude of the parameters to be measured. Equipment shall be regularly calibrated to ensure that it shall at all times have the de

32、gree of accuracy given below. 1.4.1 Voltage measurement The instruments used for voltage measurement shall be voltmeters having an accuracy class of 0,5 or better as defined in IEC 51 for analogue instruments and IEC 485 for digital instruments. The resistance of voltmeters shall be at least 1 000 7

33、/V. 1.4.2 Current measurement The instruments used for current measurement shall be ammeters having an accuracy class of 0,5 or better as defined in IEC 51 for analogue instruments. Digital instruments shall be of the same accuracy. This accuracy class shall be maintained for the assembly of ammeter

34、, shunt and leads. 1.4.3 Temperature measurement The instruments used for temperature measurement shall be thermometers having a graduated or digital scale in which the value of each graduation or digit is not in excess of one Celsius degree. The absolute accuracy of the instrument shall be at least

35、 0,5 C. 1.4.4 Time measurement Time measurement shall be to an accuracy of 0,1 % or better. Designation and marking 2.1 Cell designation Vented nickel-cad

36、mium prismatic secondary cells shall be designated by the letter K followed by a letter L, M, H or X which signifies: low rate of discharge (L)1); medium rate of discharge (M)1); high rate of discharge (H)1); very high rate of discharge (X)1). This group of two letters shall be followed by a group o

37、f figures indicative of the rated capacity of the cell in ampere-hours. For example: KH 185. Cells in cases of plastic material shall be designated by the letter “P” after the figures. For example: KH 185 P. 2.2 Cell termination This standard does not specify cell termination. 2.3 Marking Except whe

38、n otherwise required by the purchaser, each cell shall carry durable markings giving the following minimum information: type of cell (designation as specified in Clause 2.1; in addition, it is permissible for a manufacturer to use his own type designation); manufacturers or suppliers name; positive

39、terminal: either a red washer or an indented or raised symbol, (see IEC 417: graphical symbol 5005). Section 3. Dimensions 3.1 Dimensions 1) These types of cells are recommended for the following discharge rates: L typically up to 0,5 C5A. M typically above 0,5 C5A and up to 3,5 C5A. H typically abo

40、ve 3,5 C5A and up to 7 C5A. X typically above 7 C5A. NOTECells may have four or more terminals and more than four lugs. The values for widths and lengths given in Table 1a and Table 1b are maximum values; their negative tolerances are given in Table 2. NOTE 3The maximum height relates to the total height dimension over terminals or closed ce

43、ll valves. The data for heights given in Table 1a and Table 1b are maximum values, no lower limits being stated. NOTE 4The dimensions in Table 1a and Table 1b are not coupled to particular cell capacities. They apply to all kinds of open nickel-cadmium prismatic cells, i.e. L, M, H and X types. Tabl

Electrical tests Charge and discharge currents for the tests in accordance with Clauses 4.1 to 4.8 inclusive shall be based on the rated capacity. 4.1 Charging procedure for test purposes Unless otherwise specified in this standard, the charge preceding the various discharge tests sch

45、eduled shall be carried out at an ambient temperature of + 20 5 C and at a constant current of 0,2 C5A. The duration of the charge shall be 7 h to 8 h. Prior to charging, the cell shall have been discharged at 20 5 C down to a final voltage of 1,0 V at a constant current of 0,2 C5A. 4.2 Discharge pe

46、rformance The following discharge tests shall be carried out in sequence. 4.2.1 Discharge performance at + 20 C The cell shall have been charged in accordance with Clause 4.1. After charging, the cell shall be stored for not less than 1 h and not more than 4 h at an ambient temperature of + 20 5 C.

47、It shall then be discharged at the same ambient temperature and as specified in Table 3. The duration of discharge shall be not less than the minimum specified in Table 3.
