8、guage version of EN 60335-2-73:1996 Safety of household and similar electrical appliances Part 2: Particular requirements for fixed immersion heaters, including Corrigendum December 1999 published by the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC). It was derived from IEC 335-2

9、-73:1994 (first edition) published by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) which has the same title as the European Standard. The CENELEC common modifications have been implemented at the appropriate places in the text. The start and finish of each common modification is indicated in

10、the text by tags ?. The national differences taken from the preface to IEC 335-2-73:1994 and parts of the original IEC text that have been modified by CENELEC are quoted in national annex NA. Corrigendum December 1999 introduces a CENELEC common modification to 19.4. The foreword of EN 60335-2-73 ma

11、kes reference to the date of withdrawal, dow, of the relevant national standard. In this case the relevant national standard is BS 3456-2.21:1972 which will be withdrawn on 1 April 1999 in accordance with the CENELEC Internal Regulations. Certificates and marks will not be awarded after this date wi

12、th regard to the withdrawn British Standard. However such certificates and marks, already awarded, may continue to apply to production until 1 April 2004. This British Standard is to be read in conjunction with BS EN 60335-1:1995 General requirements. The many references to Part 1 should be read as

13、references to BS EN 60335-1:1995, which is the English language version of EN 60335-1:1994 which was derived from IEC publication 335-1, third edition 1991, second impression 1993. Amendments and revisions of Part 1 have also to be taken into account and the dates when such changes become applicable

14、 will be stated in the relevant amendment or revision of Part 1. Product approval. Attention is drawn to the fact that products conforming to this British Standard may be approved by the British Electrotechnical Approvals Board for the purposes of participation in the CENELEC Certification Agreement

15、 and in the CB Scheme of the IECEE. (Details of the BEAB Approvals Scheme are given on the inside back cover.) A British Standard does not purport to include all the necessary provisions of a contract. Users of British Standards are responsible for their correct application. Compliance with a Britis

25、circulated under the enquiry procedure in December 1994. This proposal was discussed during the Amsterdam meeting in September 1995, when it was decided to submit a draft for EN 60335-2-73 to the formal vote. This draft was circulated in March 1996 and was ratified by CENELEC as EN 60335-2-73 on 199

26、6-10-01. This European Standard has been prepared by the secretariat of CENELEC Technical Committee TC 61. The following dates are applicable: For products which have complied with the relevant national standard before 1999-04-01, as shown by the manufacturer or by a certification body, this previou

27、s standard may continue to apply for production until 2004-04-01. This standard has to be used in conjunction with EN 60335-1, Safety of household and similar electrical appliances, Part 1: General requirements. It was established on the basis of the 1994 edition of that standard. Amendments and rev

28、isions of part 1 have also to be taken into account and the dates when such changes become applicable will be stated in the relevant amendment or revision of part 1. This part 2 supplements or modifies the corresponding clauses of EN 60335-1, so as to convert it into the European Standard: Safety re

29、quirements for electric fixed immersion heaters. Where a particular subclause of part 1 is not mentioned in this part 2, that subclause applies as far as is reasonable. Where this standard states “addition”, “modification” or “replacement”, the relevant text of part 1 is to be adapted accordingly. S

30、ubclauses which are additional to those in part 1 are numbered starting with 101. There are no special national conditions causing a deviation from this European Standard, other than those listed in annex ZA to EN 60335-1. 37、rposes intended for installation in a water tank ?open to the atmosphere? for heating water to a temperature below its boiling-point. The rated voltage is not more than 250 V for single-phase immersion heaters and 480 V for other immersion heaters. NOTE 1The water tank may have alternative means for

38、 heating water such as the circulation of hot water supplied from a separate boiler. NOTE 2Immersion heaters having a rated power input up to 25 kW for incorporation as an alternative heating source in central heating boilers are also within the scope of this standard. Appliances not intended for no

39、rmal household use but which nevertheless may be a source of danger to the public, such as appliances intended to be used by laymen in shops, in light industry and on farms, are within the scope of this standard. So far as is practicable, this standard deals with the common hazards presented by appl

40、iances which are encountered by all persons in and around the home. This standard does not in general take into account: the use of appliances by young children or infirm persons without supervision; playing with the appliance by young children. NOTE 3Attention is drawn to the fact that for applianc

41、es intended to be used in vehicles or on board ships or aircraft, additional requirements may be necessary; for appliances intended to be used in tropical countries, special requirements may be necessary; in many countries additional requirements are specified by the national health authorities, the

42、 national authorities responsible for the protection of labour, the national water supply authorities and similar authorities. NOTE 4This standard does not apply to appliances intended exclusively for industrial purposes; appliances intended to be used in locations where special conditions prevail,

43、such as the presence of a corrosive or explosive atmosphere (dust, vapour or gas); aquarium heaters (IEC 335-2-55); portable immersion heaters (IEC 335-2-74); engine preheaters such as those for cars and buses; heating elements incorporated in appliances such as appliances for heating liquids (IEC 3

44、35-2-15); storage water heaters (IEC 335-2-21); instantaneous water heaters (IEC 335-2-35). 2 Definitions This clause of part 1 is applicable except as follows: 2.2.9 Replacement: 2.2.9 normal operation immersion heaters are installed according to the instructions for installation in the smallest ta

45、nk specified which is filled with cold water, the tank being thermally insulated NOTEAccessible parts of the immersion heater are not thermally insulated. 3 General requirement This clause of part 1 is applicable. 4 General conditions for the tests This clause of part 1 is applicable except as follo

46、ws: 4.2 Addition: NOTEAdditional immersion heaters may be needed for the tests of clause 19. 5 Void 6 Classification This clause of part 1 is applicable except as follows: 6.1 Addition: Immersion heaters shall be class I, class II, or class III. ? ? 7 Marking and instructions This clause of part 1 i

47、s applicable except as follows: 7.1 Modification: Immersion heaters for multiple supply shall be marked with the rated power input for each circuit. Addition: Immersion heaters shall be marked “Do not cover”. 7.7 Addition: The terminals of each circuit of immersion heaters for multiple supply shall

48、be identified. 7.12.1 Addition: Instructions for installation shall include the following: type and dimensions of the tank in which the immersion heater can be installed; positioning of the immersion heater within the tank; a statement that the installer must check that there is water in the tank be

49、fore the immersion heater is first switched on.
