23、d Copy, (c) BSI EN 700:1995 BSI 03-19993 1 Scope This European standard specifies requirements for 3-strand hawser-laid and 4-strand shroud-laid ropes for general service made of polyethylene and gives rules for their designation. 2 Normative references This European Standard incorporates by dated o

24、r undated references, provisions from other publications. These normative references are cited at the appropriate places in the text and the publications are listed hereafter. For dated references, subsequent amendments to or revisions of any of these publications apply to this European Standard onl

25、y when incorporated in it by amendment or revision. For undated references the latest edition of the publication referred to applies. ISO 1968, Ropes and cordage Vocabulary. 3 Definitions For the purposes of this standard, the definitions given in ISO 1968 apply. 4 Designation Fibre ropes shall be designated by: the words “fibre rope”; the number of this European Standard; the construction or type of rope (see clause 5); the re

27、ference number of the rope; the material from which the rope is made. NOTEThe material from which the rope is made may be indicated either by its full name “polyethylene” or by means of its abbreviation “PE”. Example: Designation of a 4-strand shroud-laid rope with a linear mass of 706 ktex correspo

28、nding to reference number 40 made of polyethylene: Fibre rope EN 700-B-40-polyethylene. 5 Construction Polyethylene ropes produced to this European Standard shall be made in one of the following constructions: type A: 3-strand hawser-laid rope (see Figure 1); type B: 4-strand shroud-laid rope (see F

29、igure 2). Linear density and minimum breaking force shall conform to Table 1, and Table 2 (see also Table 1 and Table 2 of EN 701:1995). Construction, manufacture, lay, labelling, packaging, invoicing and delivery lengths, shall conform to EN 701. 6 Marking The marking shall be carried out in accord

30、ance with clause 7 of EN 701:1995.
