10、observing the requirements of the standard they should at the same time ensure compliance with such statutory requirements, rules and regulations as may be applicable to the individual ship concerned. 1 Scope 1.1 This British Standard relates to all internal doors installed on board ships, with the

11、exception of A Class (SOLAS) and small cupboard doors. 1.2 The standard specifies dimensions for two basic types of doors, in three nominal sizes of 600 mm, 700 mm and 800 mm. 1.3 The standard does not specify either materials or details of door furniture. 2 Types and dimensions 2.1 The types of int

12、ernal doors and frames, constructed in accordance with this British Standard, are as follows: Type 1. Standard door and frame, fitting directly to the deck. Type 2. As Type 1 but modified to accommodate a raised sill or coaming. The principal dimensions shall be as set out in Table 1 and the dimensi

13、oned sketches shown in Figure 1 and Figure 2. The nominal size of the door is taken from the door width, dimension a of Table 1. 2.2 The dimensions given in Table 1 are related to the overall dimensions of the doors and frames. The allowable tolerance for these overall dimensions shall be plus or mi

14、nus 1 mm. 2.3 The details of the door frame sections shall be as shown in Figure 3. These are related to the external finished sizes across the frame which, in turn, correspond to the 100 mm modular system as recommended for the Construction Industry in BS 4011. The dimensions are shown for a standa

15、rd hardwood frame, but where metal or composite frames are utilized they shall also comply with these dimensions, in order to ensure uniformity of appearance in accordance with the modular system. 3 Construction 3.1 The construction of the doors and frames shall comply generally with the requirement

16、s in BS 459-3 and with the provisions of British Standard Code of Practice CP 151-1. 3.2 Homogeneous panel cores, such as asbestos based materials and chipboard, shall have hardwood lippings glued on both long edges. No metal fasteners shall be used for fixing them. 3.3 The door facings shall comply

17、 with all requirements for limitation of combustible veneers and surface spread of flame. 3.4 The door shall be carefully fitted and hung in the frame in such a manner that, when in the closed position, the gap between the edge of the door and the frame is not more than 3 mm wide at any point. 3.5 T

18、he dimension stated for the overall height of the door frame (Table 1) is the mean finished height and an allowance is necessary for variations due to sheer, camber, and deck coverings. It is recommended therefore, that Type 1 frames should be supplied with the main side frames 50 mm oversize in len

19、gth. 4 Ancillary fittings 4.1 Each door shall be hung with either two or three hinges, in the positions indicated in Figure 1 and Figure 2. 4.2 Locks and latches shall be so fitted that the handle conforms to the standard position as shown in Figure 1 and Figure 2. 4.3 The stops of the door frames s

20、hall not, in any circumstances, be cut away to facilitate the use of locks with a small back-set of the key and follower. 5 Marking The doors shall be marked on the hanging stile with the following particulars: 1) The number of this British Standard, i.e. BS MA 6. 2) The type number, i.e. Type 1, or

21、 Type 2. 3) Nominal size (see Table 1). 4) Class for which it is approved (see 1 Scope). 6 Information to be supplied with an enquiry or order The following information shall be supplied by the purchaser when making an enquiry or placing an order: 1) The number of this British Standard, i.e. BS MA 6

22、. 2) The Type number, i.e. Type 1, or Type 2. 3) The nominal size (see Table 1). 4) The Class for approval, including material and thickness. 5) The surface finish on “pull” side. 6) The surface finish on “push” side. 7) The frame finish on “pull” side. 8) The frame finish on “push” side.
