It is a conversion of, and supersedes, MOD(PE) Sp

9、ecification DTD 5082, which is withdrawn. The Ministry of Defence rendered all DTD Specifications obsolescent in 1999 and will withdraw them in 2003. Steel products of this composition are still required by the UK Aerospace industry, and this British Standard has been created to satisfy that continu

10、ing requirement. This British Standard incorporates the technical requirements of MOD(PE) Specification DTD 5082, updates the references, and presents the standard in a format compatible with other similar British Standards. This publication does not purport to include all the necessary provisions o

13、characteristics of a 1 % chromium-molybdenum steel for aerospace applications, supplied in the following forms and as parts, for general aerospace use: a) forging stock and billets and bars for subsequent working: softened, designation S 164A; b) forgings: softened, designation S 164C; c) forgings:

14、De?16 mm, hardened and tempered, designation S 164F; d) black bars for machining: softened, designation S 164B; e) black bars for machining: De?16 mm, hardened and tempered, designation S 164E; f) bright bars for machining: softened and subsequently cold drawn, cold rolled, machined or ground, desig

15、nation S 164D; g) bright bars for machining: De?16 mm, hardened and tempered, designation S 164G. 2 Normative references The following referenced documents are indispensable for the application of this document. For undated references, the latest edition of the publication referred to applies. BS 5S

16、 100:1993, Procedure for inspection, testing and acceptance of wrought steels (other than plate, sheet, strip and tube).1) 3 Technical requirements 3.1 The material in its delivery and use conditions shall comply with Table 1, Table 2, or Table 3 according to form. 3.2 Sulfur printing or deep etch t

17、esting shall be carried out in accordance with the latest edition of BS S 100. 3.3 The material shall be overall dressed at a suitable stage in manufacture. 3.4 Bar for machining, delivered in the hardened and tempered condition, which has been subjected to a cold straightening or cold working opera

18、tion after heat treatment shall be given a stress relieving heat treatment to restore the proof stress. 3.5 The equivalent diameter of parts or other products at final heat treatment shall be equal to, or less than the limiting ruling section of 16 mm. 3.6 Parts finally heat-treated after machining

19、shall conform to the latest edition of BS S 100. 3.7 Parts shall be supplied in the fully heat-treated, hardened and tempered, condition. NOTEThe format and symbols of Table 1 are derived from European Standards prEN 4500-1 and prEN 4500-5 which are published as AECMA prestandards. The presentation
