NOTE 2Filler rods that comply with BS 1453 Grade A8, for gas welding, or with BS 2901 Grad

9、e A8, for inert-gas arc welding, are suitable for welding steel of this composition. 1 Inspection and testing procedure 1.1 This British Standard shall be used in conjunction with the relevant sections of the latest edition of BS S 500. 1.2 The thickness of the material shall be in accordance with t

10、he latest edition of BS S 500. 1.3 Sulphur printing or deep etching tests. Samples shall be selected in accordance with the latest edition of BS S 500. 2 Process of manufacture The material shall be manufactured by an electric process unless otherwise agreed between the manufacturer and the purchase

11、r in accordance with the latest edition of BS S 500. 3 Chemical composition The steel shall contain: 4 Surface dressing The material shall be overall dressed in accordance with the requirements of the latest edition of BS S 500. 5 Condition 5.1 The material shall be supplied in one of the following

12、conditions: 1) Cold-rolled. 2) Cold-rolled and tempered. 5.2 Text deleted 6 Mechanical properties The mechanical properties obtained from test pieces selected and prepared in accordance with the relevant requirements of the latest edition of BS S 500 shall comply with the following: 1) Tensile test.

13、 2) Single bend test. The test piece shall be bent cold without cracking through an angle of 180 over a former with a radius equal to one and a half times the nominal thickness of the sheet or strip. Element% min.max. 15、cted by the inspector to represent each cast. The test piece shall be heated for 30 minutes at a temperature of 650 10 C and cooled in air. It shall then be immersed for 72 hours in a boiling solution having the following composition: 111 grammes copper sulphate crystals (CuSO45H2O); 98 grammes conc

16、entrated sulphuric acid (specific gravity 1.84) made up to 1 litre with distilled water. Precaution shall be taken during boiling to prevent concentration due to evaporation. 7.2 The test piece treated in accordance with 7.1 shall then be subjected to, and meet the requirements of, the single bend t

17、est in accordance with Clause 6, 2). 7.3 Re-tests 7.3.1 If any test piece fails to meet the requirements of 7.2 the inspector shall select two further test pieces from the batch, one of which shall be taken from the item originally sampled, unless that item has been withdrawn by the manufacturer. 7.
