BS S 526:1969 BSI 27 May 2003 1 NOTE 1Sheet and strip of the same composition for use in the cold rolled condition are covered by the latest edition of BS S 524. NOTE 2Filler rods that comply with BS 145

7、3 Grade A8, for gas welding, or with BS 2901 Grade A8, for inert-gas arc welding, are suitable for welding steel of this composition. 1 Inspecting and testing procedure 1.1 This British Standard shall be used in conjunction with the relevant sections of the latest edition of BS S 500. 1.2 The thickn

8、ess of the material shall be in accordance with the latest edition of BS S 500. Material which has been finally hot rolled prior to softening shall satisfy the tolerances applicable to hot-rolled sheet and strip. Material which has been finally cold rolled prior to softening shall satisfy the tolera

9、nces applicable to cold-rolled sheet and strip. 1.3 Sulphur printing or deep etching tests. Samples shall be selected in accordance with the latest edition of BS S 500. 2 Process of manufacture The material shall be manufactured by an electric process unless otherwise agreed between the manufacturer

10、 and the purchaser in accordance with the latest edition of BS S 500. 3 Chemical composition The steel shall contain: 4 Surface dressing The material shall be overall dressed in accordance with the requirements of the latest edition of BS S 500. 5 Condition The material shall be supplied in the soft

11、ened condition. 6 Final heat treatment Softening shall be carried out by heating at a temperature between 1 000 C and 1 100 C and cooling, in air or quenching in oil or water. Element% min.max. 12、l9.011.0 Titanium5 carbon content0.70 BS S 526:1969 2 BSI 27 May 2003 7 Mechanical properties The mechanical properties obtained from test pieces selected and prepared in accordance with the relevant requirements of the latest edition of BS S 500 shall comply with the following. 1) Tensile test. 2)

13、Hardness test. The hardness of the material shall be not more than 179 HB or 190 HV. 3) Single bend test. The test piece shall be bent cold without cracking through an angle of 180 and closed flat. 8 Intercrystalline corrosion test 8.1 A bend test piece shall be selected by the inspector to represen

14、t each batch. The test piece shall be heated for 30 minutes at a temperature of 650 10 C and cooled in air. It shall then be immersed for 72 hours in a boiling solution having the following composition: 111 grammes copper sulphate crystals (CuSO45H2O); 98 grammes concentrated sulphuric acid (specifi

15、c gravity 1.84) made up to 1 litre with distilled water. Precautions shall be taken during boiling to prevent concentration due to evaporation. 8.2 The test piece treated in accordance with 8.1 shall then be subjected to, and meet the requirements of, the single bend test in accordance with Clause 7

16、, 3). 8.3 Re-tests 8.3.1 If any test piece fails to meet the requirements of 8.2 the inspector shall select two further test pieces from the batch, one of which shall be taken from the item originally sampled, unless that item has been withdrawn by the manufacturer. 8.3.2 Both these further test pie
