13、 rubber material possessing excellent ozone resistance properties intended for the production of items such as sheet, mouldings and certain extrusions for use in mainly mechanical applications in contact with air over the temperature range 65 C to 230 C1). This material standard is to be used in con

14、junction with BS EN 3207. NOTE 1 Material and products manufactured from this specification are not intended for liquid sealing or for an application where low compression set is of prime importance. NOTE 2 Occasional contamination by silicate ester and phosphate ester hydraulic fluids, di-ester gre

15、ases is not unduly detrimental provided the temperature is not excessive. Contact with fuels, light mineral oils, silicone liquids or greases derived from these should be avoided. NOTE 3 Further information on the suitability of silicone rubber for design applications can be found in SBAC Technical

16、Specification No. 97 1. 21、rage life may be considered indefinite. However, the rate of deterioration increases markedly with increase in temperature and the service life of the rubber therefore depends upon the operational temperature. Conversely, the maximum temperature at which the rubber may be used depends upon the usefu

24、ng terms and definitions apply 3.1polymer material formed by joining together many (poly) individual units (mer) of one or more monomers 3.2vulcanization thermosetting reaction involving the use of heat and pressure, resulting in greatly increased strength and elasticity of rubber-like materials 4 M

25、aterial 4.1Material composition Silicone polymer shall consist of a homogeneous mix of recognized rubber quality products suitably compounded and cured to meet the requirements of this specification. No reclaimed or ground vulcanized waste shall be used in the mix. 4.2Manufacturing control Silicone

26、rubber material and products manufactured from this material shall be formulated and manufactured to issue controlled documentation, which shall form part of the contract between purchaser and manufacturer. Changes to the formulation or manufacturing process shall not be made without due considerati

27、on being given that the modified material/product meets all the requirements of the standard. 4.3Classification and grades Material shall be supplied in four nominal hardness grades: Grade 50; Grade 60; Grade 70; Grade 80. 29、nominal hardness value. Tolerances, if required tighter than those specified within this specification, shall not be tighter than 3. NOTE For example, where a hardness of 65 is specified, the requirements of Grade 60 apply as the value of 65 lies within the 56 to 65 hardness range of Grade 60. 5 Pro

30、perties Material manufactured in accordance with Annex A shall meet the requirements specified in Tables 1 and 2. The first production batch and every subsequent 10th batch of material shall be fully tested in accordance with material standard line numbers specified in Tables 1 and 2. All other batc

31、hes of material shall be tested in accordance with material standard line numbers 1, 3 and 15 of Table 1. 34、Test methods 7.1Accelerated ageing Test specimens, when required, shall be subjected to accelerated temperature ageing in accordance with BS ISO 188 for (336 2) h at (200 3) C. 7.2Determination of hardness 7.2.1As manufactured material Determination of hardness shall be conducted in accordance with

35、BS 903-A26, Method N on a specimen extracted from the thicker portion of the test sheet and superimposed upon the thinner section of the same sheet during test. 7.2.2Before and after heat ageing Determination of the effects of heat ageing on the hardness of the material shall be conducted in accorda

36、nce with BS 903-A26, Method N by testing two plies of the thinner section of the test sheet superimposed upon each other. Tests shall be carried out prior to and after accelerated heat ageing. 39、 density Determination of the density of the material shall be conducted in accordance with BS 903-A1, Method A. 7.4Determination of tensile strength and elongation at break 7.4.1As manufactured material Determination of the tensile strength and elongation at break shall be conducted in accordance w

40、ith BS ISO 37, using Type 2 dumb-bell specimens extracted from the thinner section of the test sheet. 7.4.2Before and after heat ageing Determination of the effects of heat ageing on the tensile strength and elongation at break shall be conducted in accordance with BS ISO 37, using Type 2 dumb-bell

41、specimens extracted from the thinner section of the test sheet. Tests shall be carried out prior to and after accelerated heat ageing. 7.5Determination of compression set Determination of compression set shall be conducted in accordance with BS 903-A6, using Type B specimens extracted from the thick

42、er section of the test sheet or on moulded cylindrical buttons. The specimens shall be subjected to (150 2) C for 24 0 p2 h. 7.6Determination of tear strength Determination of tear strength shall be conducted in accordance with BS ISO 34-1, Method C on specimens extracted from the thinner section of

43、 the test sheet. 8 Quality of material 8.1Quality assurance documentation Quality assurance documentation for each batch of material or manufactured products shall be in accordance with BS EN 3207. 8.2Rubber products 8.2.1Manufacture Rubber products shall be manufactured from material conforming to

44、the requirements of this specification. 45、eed between the purchaser and the manufacturer and shall include the following. 8.2.2.2Mechanical properties Requirements of tests carried out on test specimens extracted from products shall be agreed between purchaser and manufacturer if not conforming to the requirements of Tables 1 and 2. The typ

46、e of test specimen and the method of extraction and preparation shall be agreed between purchaser and manufacturer and documented. 8.2.2.3Physical properties Products shall be smooth and free from surface imperfections, porosity, voids, inclusions, flow marks or inadequate joint of moulding blank an

47、d other defects that would impair satisfactory performance. NOTE Items may be specified with shallow cloth marking on one or more surfaces. 8.2.2.4Chemical tests At a frequency agreed between the purchaser and manufacturer, chemical analysis testing shall be carried out to show composition conforman

48、ce to Clause 4 of this specification. 8.2.3Dimensional properties Dimensions and tolerances of moulded products and the method of measurement shall be in accordance with BS 3734-1 unless otherwise agreed between purchaser and manufacturer. 9 Marking, labelling and packaging Packaging and labelling o

49、f products shall conform to BS F 69. Products shall be stored in accordance with BS F 68.
