9、e with the latest edition of BS S 500. Material which has been finally hot rolled prior to heat treatment shall satisfy the tolerances applicable to hot-rolled sheet and strip. Material which has been finally cold rolled prior to heat treatment shall satisfy the tolerances applicable to cold-rolled
10、sheet and strip. 1.3 Sulphur printing or deep etching tests. Samples shall be selected in accordance with the latest edition of BS S 500. 2 Process of manufacture The material shall be manufactured by an electric process unless otherwise agreed between the manufacturer and the purchaser in accordanc
11、e with the latest edition of BS S 500. 3 Chemical composition The steel shall contain: 4 Surface dressing The material shall be overall dressed in accordance with the latest edition of BS S 500. 5 Condition The material shall be supplied in the softened and descaled condition. 6 Final heat treatment
12、 Softening shall be carried out by heating at a temperature between 1 000 C and 1 100 C and cooling in air or quenching in oil or water. Element% min.max. 14、 the latest edition of BS S 500 shall comply with the following. 1) Tensile test. 2) Hardness test. The hardness of the material shall be not more than 179 HB or 190 HV. 3) Single bend test. The test piece shall withstand being bent cold without cracking through an angle of 180 and closed flat. 8 In
15、tercrystalline corrosion test 8.1 A bend test piece shall be selected by the inspector to represent each batch. The test piece shall be heated for 30 minutes at a temperature of 650 10 C and cooled in air. It shall then be immersed for 72 hours in a boiling solution having the following composition:
16、 111 g copper sulphate crystals (CuSO45H2O); 98 g concentrated sulphuric acid (specific gravity 1.84) made up to 1 litre with distilled water. Precautions shall be taken during boiling to prevent concentration due to evaporation. 8.2 The test piece treated in accordance with 8.1, shall then be subje
17、cted to, and meet the requirements of, the single bend test in accordance with Clause 7, 3). 8.3 Retests 8.3.1 If any test piece fails to meet the requirements of 8.2 the inspector shall select two further test pieces from the batch, one of which shall be taken from the item originally sampled, unle
18、ss that item has been withdrawn by the manufacturer. 8.3.2 Both these further test pieces, selected and treated in accordance with 8.3.1 shall be treated in accordance with 8.1 and tested in accordance with, and meet the requirements of, 8.2. 0.2 % proof stressTensile strengthElongation on thickness
