、ucts, and assisting the purchaser in selecting and obtaining with minimum delay the proper product for his particular need. Existence of such Standards, Bulletins and other technical publications shall not in any respect preclude any member or nonmember of CEA from manufacturing or selling products

、not conforming to such Standards, Bulletins or other technical publications, nor shall the existence of such Standards, Bulletins and other technical publications preclude their voluntary use by those other than CEA members, whether the standard is to be used either domestically or internationally.

、Standards, Bulletins and other technical publications are adopted by CEA in accordance with the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) patent policy. By such action, CEA does not assume any liability to any patent owner, nor does it assume any obligation whatever to parties adopting the Standa

、rd, Bulletin or other technical publication. This CEA Standard is considered to have International Standardization implication, but the International Electrotechnical Commission activity has not progressed to the point where a valid comparison between the CEA Standard and the IEC document can be mad

、e. This Standard does not purport to address all safety problems associated with its use or all applicable regulatory requirements. It is the responsibility of the user of this Standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and to determine the applicability of regulatory limitations

Published by CONSUMER ELECTRONICS ASSOCIATION 2002 Technology otherwise, the packet is blocked. 4.2 ID Packets. 4.2.1 Requesting ID Packets. An ID packet is the means by which a node (o

、r group of nodes) makes itself known to CEBus routers that employ Directory Routing. CEBus-EIB Routers do not contain dynamic Directory Routing Tables, so do not use the information provided by ID packets. Also, CEBus-EIB Routers do not request that ID packets be returned from nodes that are recipie

、nts of packets passing through the CEBus-EIB Router. However, for consistency with a CEBus network, CEBus-EIB Routers respond to a Request ID destined for an EIB node. 4.2.2 ID Packets from a CEBus-EIB Router Since EIB nodes do not process NPDUs with a routing type of “Request_ID,” the CEBus-EIB Rou

、ter will respond with an ID packet if it receives a CEBus packet containing this request destined for an EIB node. The ID packet contains the Destination Address 00FE indicating that the destination is “nonlocal.” 4.3 Output of Router A Router generates packets and retransmits received packets accor

、ding to various entities within the router. As packets complete processing in the Router Network Layer, they are added to the forwarding queues within the router. All packets contain a priority field in the NPDU. This field prioritizes packets waiting to be passed to the Data Link Layer. This priori

、ty queuing scheme ensures that High priority packets are transmitted before packets of Standard or Deferred priority from the router. The size of these priority queues is limited to specific lengths defined in the technical specification document. These limits have been set to improve performance of

、 the router. Although the Network Layer sends the highest priority packet available to the Data Link Layer, before the DLL can pass that packet to the Physical Layer, a higher priority packet could arrive at the network layer. In this situation, the Network Layer immediately passes the packet to the

、 Data Link Layer. The DLL can perform priority preemption on the first packet. The DLL returns a FAILURE_PRIORITY packet to the Network Layer for the first packet. The Network Layer returns this packet to the proper forwarding queue and will send the packet to the DLL again at the proper time. -11-

、RIPTION OF THE CEBUS-EIB ROUTER 5. Summary A CEBus-EIB Router is the device in a combined CEBus-EIB network that connects an EIB and a CEBus medium. A router forwards packets onto the adjacent medium and convert packets between CEBus and EIB Data Link Layer formats, with an optional translation of t
