5、concentrations should be set at the end of the day and allowed to stabilize overnight. While setting the chlorine concentration as measured at the center of the exposure volume, measiircments should be made to ensure that the chlorine concentration does not vary more than 1?h between the Mow and out

6、flow areas of the chamber working volume. If a greater variance is found, either the chamber loading must be reduced or the exchange rate must be increased. After allowing the chlorine concentration to stabiie overnight, the level should be adjusted if necessary to the concentration in table I. Ifth

7、e chlorine concentration cannot be stabilized at the proper level within 24 hours of sample placement, the samples must be replaced. The remaining pollutants (Na and H2S) shall then be introduced into the test chamber and adjusted as measured at the center of the exposure volume to the concentration

8、s of the requested exposure class in table I. Measurements should be made to ensure that variations in concentrations between the inflow and outflow areas of the working volume do not exceed l?. Test Procedures A recommended exposure time for the test samples is 20 days beginning fiom the point at w

9、hich ail the parameters have been stabilized, unless otherwise specified in the referencing document. In many cases it may be advantageous to withdraw samples for periodic testing prior to the full time of the test. After removal fiom the chamber, such samples shall be stabilized at room ambient for

10、 a minimum of 2 hours, measured for appropriate response, and returned to the chamber if required. Such withdrawals shall be noted in the test report. The chamber shall not be opened during a control coupon exposure period. The interior of the environmental chamber shall be monitored periodically (n

11、ot to exceed 1 hour between measurements) for humidity, temperature, and pollutant concentration. If adjustment is required additional monitoring shall be performed. Due to chamber construction and exchange rates, it may not be possible to analyze the chlorine in combination with other gases. In thi

12、s instance, the chlorine shall be adjusted oniy at the start of the test and monitored at the completion of the test. The initial chlorine flow rate shall be maintained throughout the test exposure. For chamber concentration that allows pollutant gases to be purged and replaced in hour or less, it i

13、s recommended that all pollutant gases, except C 12 be removed during interruptions for sample analysis and coupon removal and then chlorine levels verified. 15、mples shall be removed from the chamber and stabilized at room ambient for a minimum of 2 hours before making the final readings or measurements. Control Coupon Exposures Figure I defines the zone configuration of a typical test chamber. From the results of chamber calibration, see 5.1.1, zones repr

16、esenting the minimum and maximum corrosivity ievels within the working volume shall be identified. A minimum of 1 copper coupon (and an additional silver coupon for class 2) shall be placed in each of the zones of minimum and maximum corrosivity. Additional control coupons shall be placed in the cha

17、mber per 5.4.1.1. or 5.4.1.2. For chambers with a working volume greater than 0.5 meter on a side, a minimum of 1 copper and an additional silver coupon for class 2 shall be placed in other zones as needed to ensure that zonal plane (top to bottom, front to back, lefi to right) as shown in figure I

18、will have at least 1 zone with a control coupon. For chambers with a working volume less than 0.5 meter on a side, a minimum of 1 copper and an additional silver coupon for class 3 shall be placed in one other zone if needed to ensure that at least one pair of alternating corners contain coupons. Th

19、ese coupons shall be placed in the chamber between the 3rd and 6th day and again between the 15th and 18th day. The coupons shall be removed &er exposure times of 48 hours, unless otherwise specified. A new set of coupons prepared in accordance with 4.1. shall be used during each exposure period. Lo

20、cation of the coupons shall be noted on the data sheet. Control coupons are used to monitor the reaction rate in the chamber and not the deterioration of the test samples. Coupons removed fiom the chamber shall not be returned to the chamber. In order to minimize instability of the test conditions w

21、ithin the chamber, wherever possible any test samples required to be removed on a certain day shall be removed at the same time as the control coupons are being removed or replaced. See 5.3.2 and 5.4.1. Control Coupon Evaluation Control coupons removed from the chamber shall be analyzed using any me

22、thod in 3.1 to evaluate coupon corrosivity and veri chamber conditions.
