1、- =lllOb3i=l 0004493 lT4 - I GENERAL MOTORS ENGINEERING STANDARDS I Materials and Processes - Paint I PIT FILLER, BODY SHOP - CONDUCTIVE 9994106 1 SCOPE. This specification covers the requirements for a conductive compound used to fill metal pits and voids in the body shop. The material shall be suf

2、ficiently conductive to result in a smooth, uniform deposition of cathodic ELPO primer in the filled area. This product is applied in the body shop and completely cured in the ELPG oven. 2 REFERENCED STANDARDS. GMlOOOM GM907 1P GM4389M ASTM D2246 ASTM D2247 ASTM D3359A 3 REQUIREMENTS. Specific mater

3、ial requirements and appropriate test methods are listed under properties. 3.1 RESTRICTED AND REPORTABLE CHEMICALS (GMlOOOM). By 1997 start of saleable vehicles, all materials supplied to this specification must comply with the require- ments listed in GMlOOOM, “Restricted and Reportable Chemicals.”

4、 3.2 PHYSICAL PROPERTIES 3.2.1 Appearance. The coating shall represent a smooth, uni- form continuous surface that blends into noncoverage areas. The surface shall be free of sags, craters, blisters or any other defect detrimental to appearance or durability. 3.2.2 Durability. The material must not

5、deteriorate or lose properties when exposed to either production systems or exte- rior environments. After application of test material and processed with a complete GM approved paint system, the material must satisfactorily pass GM9071P. Methods A and B. 3.2.3 Stability. Material shall be unaffecte

6、d by normal stor- age periods and normal temperature variations as specified by the supplier. The stability test(s) must be agreed upon by the supplier of the material and the GM Test Engineer before start of testing. 3.2.4 There shall be no objectionable appearance difference or any other differenc

7、es between the given material areas or adjacent areas after topcoat. 3.2.5 Fiim Thickness. The film thickness shall be 25 to 76 microns or the thickness recommended by the supplier of the material (prior to submission/approval). 3.3 PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS. 3.3.1 Tape Adhesion (ASTM D3359A and GM90

8、71P, Method A and B). A minimum visual rating of 8 is required. 3.3.2 Moisture Resistance (ASTM D2247lASTM D3359A and GM9071P). A minimum visual rating of 8 is required. 3.3.3 Acrylic Crack (ASTM D2246, 15 cycles). No crack- ing, blistering or other deleterious effects must be exhibited at end of te

9、st. 3.3.4 Plant Requirements. After passing the above require- ments of this specification, this material must perform satisfactorily in the intended plant application as demonstrated by a plant tryout. 3.4 PROCESS REQUIREMENTS. 3.4.1 Functional Requirements. The material must continue to perform sa

10、tisfactorily in the specified production applica- tion. Failure to do so shall constitute reason for rejection regardless of compliance with the other requirements of this specification. 3.4.2 Quality Control Requirements. In addition to meeting all the above detailed requirements, all subsequent lo

11、ts of an approved compound will be required to meet the standards of composition established in the originally approved lot. Reference original infrared spectra and gas chromatograms. 4 SOURCE SHIPMENT RESPONSIBILITY. It will be the responsibility of the supplier to insure that the material is not e

12、xposed to temperatures during shipment which would cause the material to fail to meet any of the require- ments of this specification. 5 INITIAL SOURCE APPROVAL. No shipment shall be made by any supplier until representative initial production samples have been approved by engineering as meeting the

13、 requirements of this specification. 5.1 Completed copies of the Material Safety Data Sheet meeting GM information requirements must be submitted with any new submissions or whenever a composition change has occurred. 6 INSPECTION AND REJECTION. All shipments of material or parts under contract or p

14、urchase order manufac- tured to this specification shall be equivalent in every respect to the initial samples approved by engineering. There shall be no changes in either formulation or manufacturing processes permitted without prior notification and approval by engineer- ing. Lack of notification

15、by the supplier constitutes grounds for rejection of any shipment. While samples may be taken from incoming shipments and checked for conformance to this specification, the supplier shall accept the responsibility for incoming shipments meeting this specification without depen- dence upon purchaser

16、s inspection. In addition the supplier shall be responsible for submitting a CERTIFICATE OF ANALYSIS with each batch of material arriving at a plant. This document shall be prepared and provide data in accord- ance with the requirements detailed in GM4389M. 7 APPROVED SOURCES. Engineering qualificat

17、ion of an approved source is required for this specification. Only sources listed in the GM Materials File under this specification number have been qualified by engineering as meeting the requirements of this specification.
