2、irements for a sheet vibration damping heat fusible material intended for use on inverted vertical or horizontal surfaces. The material may come in the form of a single layer, constrained layer or a multilayer composite. 1.1 Material Description. Heat fusible bitumen pads which are applied on painte

3、d sheet metal in order to provide a damping effect on the body. Before the paint shop oven these mats are to be set on the specific places what generates the following classification. 1.1.1 Type I: A standard bitumen material with a hot melt adhesive and can be applied in the paint shop. 1.1.2 Type

4、II: A magnetic material with a hot melt adhesive and can be applied in the paint shop. The magnetic strength shall not be less than 18 mT. 1.1.3 Type III: A material which comes with a pressure sensitive adhesive on the attaching surface to enhance adhesion for difficult to bond areas. 1.1.4 Type IV

5、: The same as Type I or Type II materials except with an epoxy restraining layer to induce stiffening. 1.2 Typical Applications. Correlation between common panel position forms for part setting on the determined place before entering the paint shop oven for curing and examples of application. See Ta

6、ble A1. 1.3 Deadeners Materials Identification. Heat fusible materials specifications identifications and equivalence between them. 8、 shall be performed on materials representative of production processes as defined in GMW3221, Code A. 3.2 Physical Requirements. 3.2.1 Weight. GMW3182. Weight shall be specified on the engineering drawing. Weight per Unit Area. Determined with scales providing an accuracy of 1 g. 3.2.2 Thickness. F

9、ollowing paint bake at the assembly plant, thickness shall be 3.0 mm maximum or as specified on the engineering drawing. Measured with caliper rule. 3.2.3 Specific Gravity, ISO 845. Specific gravity range shall be 2.0 to 2.8. 3.2.4 Tensile Strength, GMW3010. Minimum. 0.5 MPa 3.2.5 Flexibility, GMW31

10、54. There shall be no evidence of cracking when the material is bent around a 100 mm diameter mandrel at room temperature. 3.2.6 Mold Resistance, GMW3259. There shall be no mildew growth. 3.2.7 Blocking Resistance. Ten (10) layers of the material must separate cleanly with no evidence of sticking wh

11、en tested as follows: 50 X 50 mm samples shall be stacked and exposed at 50C for 16 h under a 3.5 kPa load. Allow cooling to room temperature before separating. A release paper may be used to facilitate meeting this requirement. 3.2.8 Magnetic Force. A 400 X 200 mm size test piece shall be prepared

12、extracting it from a magnetic part. See Figure 1. The test

13、 piece shall not fall down for 25 minutes minimum. This test shall be performed at 23 2C and 55 5% Relative Humidity (RH). Test piece dimension: 400 X 200 mm Figure 1: Magnetic Force 3.2.9 Adhesion. 3.2.9.1 Release Liners. The Type III materials comes with a release liner, which must remain in posit

14、ion throughout shipping and handling. 3.2.9.2 The force required to remove the release liner shall not exceed 2 N/100 mm when tested per ASTM D903. 3.2.9.3 The Types I, II and IV materials measuring 25.4 X 150 mm shall be applied to production intent substrates measuring 30 X 100 mm. The material wi

15、ll not be required to be rolled out. 3.2.9.4 The Type III material measuring 25.4 X 150 mm shall be applied to production intent substrates measuring 30 X 100 mm. The material will then be rolled out using a 500 g roller. 3.2.10 Storage Stability. The shelf life of the materials shall be 90 days at

16、+5 to 35C. Shelf life commences upon receipt of material from the manufacturer. 3.3 Requirements After Baking Process. The material must have good adhesion and exhibit no cracking or other deleterious effects. Standard Baking Condition: 20 3 minutes at +165 5C (e.g., for GME, LAMM, GMNA, GM Holden)

17、Low Bake primer 25 3 minutes at +130 5C (e.g., for AP/PATAC) 3.3.1 Adhesion Tests. After going through the paint bake process. When tested on production intent paint surfaces, (ELPO, primer or topcoat), the samples must exhibit cohesive failures when submitted to 90 peel adhesion tests, at 300 mm/mi

18、nute, before and after being submitted to the following environments: Heat aging at 336 h at 70C 6 weeks cycle F of GMW14124 substitute 40C, 98% RH in place of salt spray After Baking at Room Temperature (RT). 3.3.2 Conformability, GME 60295 Part 12. The material must conform to the surfaces that it

19、 is attached to after going through the paint bake process. 3.3.3 Cold Impact, GM9011P. The reverse side of the damper materials shall not crack lose adhesion nor break seal after two 0.5 J impacts at -30C. Slight surface crazing is permissible. Or GME 60295 Part 6. Drop Height to be 0.5 m. 3.3.4 Vi

20、bration Damping Performance, SAE J1637, Beam Size B. Total length: 240 mm Free length: 216 mm Width: 20 mm Thickness: 1 mm Loss factors shall be specified on the engineering drawings. 3.3.5 Dimensional Stability, GMW4217. Use dry method. 1.5% maximum change. 3.3.6 Heat Temperature Resistance, GME 60

21、295 Part 5. The material shall not slide off. 3.3.7 Fogging, GMW3235. Six hours at 70C. After bake the glossmeter reading shall not be less than 80. 3.3.8 Odor, GMW3205. Rating 6 minimum. 3.3.9 Flammability. GMW3232. The material shall meet the requirements of GMW3232. 3.3.10 Sealant Compatibility.

22、Testing for sealant compatibility must be done prior to production application. 3.3.11 Vibration damping materials must not degrade the sealing quality of any sealant materials used in which there is contact between the materials. 3.3.12 Adhesion between different sealer materials shall be such that

23、 separation in any direction of the materials results in cohesive separation. 3.3.13 Paint Shop Compatibility. The material shall not affect any of the paint processing such as oven fouling, dirt in paint or chemical degradation of the paint system. 4 Manufacturing Process Not applicable. GM WORLDWI

Only sources listed in the GM Materials File (i.e., GM Supply Power) under

26、this standard number have been qualified by engineering as meeting the requirements of this standard.
