1、GENERAL MOTORS ENGINEERING STANDARDS COMPOUND, CORROSION PREVENTIVE, HOT MELT, SPRAYABLE 9985529 1 SCOPE. This specification covers the basic rquire- ments for a thermoplastic corrosion preventive compound for application to underbody and chassis components. The corrosion preventive compound is for

2、assembly plant applica- tion over warm (38 to 48 C) metal surfaces by elevated temperature spray (150 to 163 C). The material is applied to a film thickness of 150 elm for low abrasion applications and 300 m for high abrasion applications. The coating shall contain no solvents, no asbestos and shall

3、 be non toxic and non injurious to plant personal. 2 REFERENCE STANDARDS. 3 REQUIREMENTS. 3.1 Physical Properties (see Table 1). 3.2 Performance Requirements (see Table 2). 3.2.1 Test Methods. Test panels for the performance tests are 0.8100300 mm (minimum) unpolished cold rolled body sheet steel. T

4、est are to be duplicated on test panels coated with currently released cathodic ELPO primer. Panels are preheated to 45 C prior to application of the material. The material is applied to t

15、he panels by airless spray at a temperature of 150 to 160 C to a film thickness of 150 m, unless otherwise specified. Age panels 72 h prior to testing. 3.4 Stability Rquiremmts. After 1 month of exposure to temperatures of 155 + 5 C, there will be no significant change in viscosity or performance. 4

16、 SOURCE SHIPMENT RESPONSIBILlTV. It will be the responsibility of the supplier to insure that the material is not exposed to temperatures during shipmmt which would cause the material to fail to meet any of the requirements of this specifation. 5 INKIAL SOURCE APPROVAL No shipment shall be made by a

17、ny supplier until representative initial production samples have betn approved by engineering as meeting the requirements of this specification. 5.1 Completed copies of the GM Material Safety Data Sheet and Critical Material Register (available from the engineering department or laboratory), or quiv

18、alent, must be submitted with any new submissions or where a composition change has OCCUCd. 6 INSPECTION AND REJECTION. All shipments of material or parts under contract or purchase order manufac- tured to this specification shall be quivalmt in every respect to the initial samples approved by mginc

19、ering. There shah be no changes in either formulation or manufacturing processes permitted without prior notification and approval by mgi- neering. Lack of notification by the supplier constitutes grounds for rejection of any shipment. While samples may be taken from incoming shipments and checked f

20、or conformance to this specification, the supplier shall accept the responsibili- ty for incoming shipmmts meeting this specification without dependence upon purchaser s inspection. 7 APPROVED SOURCES. Engineering qualification of an approved source is required for this specification. Only sources l

21、isted in the GM Corporate Materials File under this specification number have been qualified by engineering as meeting the requirements of this specification. 8 GENERAL INFORMATION.
