1、 ENGINEERING STANDARDS Material Specification Adhesives 9985757 Adhesive Primer, Pinchweld, for Enamel, Methylene Chloride Free 1 Scope This specification details the requirements of a me- thylene chloride free primer intended to promote adhesion of GM approved fixed glass bonding ure- thane sealant

2、s to GM approved topcoats. The mate- rial must also have good wetability and coverage properties when brush applied. 1.1 Refer to the GMNA Preferred Materials Catalog for compatible GM approved bonding systems. 2 References Note: Only the latest approved standards are appli- cable unless otherwise s

3、pecified. 2.1 External Standards/Specifications. ASTM D1200 ASTM D1475 2.2 GM Standards/Specifications. GM3652M GM9763P GM9010P GM9832P GM9027P GMW3001 GM9071P GMW3059 GM9520P 3 Requirements. 3.1 Material Properties. Specific material require- ments and appropriate test methods are listed under prop

4、erties. 3.1.1 Specific Gravity, ASTM D1475. 0.95 typical. An individual specific gravity range for each ap- proved source will be set at the time of approval to this specification. This specific gravity range will become a requirement of that material. 3.1.2 Solids Content, GM9010P. 30% min by mass.

5、 3.1.3 Viscosity, ASTM D1200. Initial, 23 3C, 50 5% RH17 5 s After 72 h at 54 3C.30 s max 3.1.3.1 Material shall be agitated vigorously a mini- mum of 30 minutes immediately prior to measuring for viscosity. 3.1.4 Color.Black 3.1.5 Odor, GM9832P. The primer must not have a toxic or noxious odor. Aft

6、er drying, it must be rela- tively non-odorous. 3.2 Performance Requirements. Materials ap- proved to this specification shall meet the bonding requirements of Shear Adhesion and Quick Knife Adhesion of GM3652M, Performance Require- ments For Bonding And Sealing Of Stationary Automotive Glass, when

7、used in conjunction with GM approved fixed glass bonding adhesives. Test methods and sample preparation shall be adjusted to accommodate the bodyside pinchweld primer being tested. 3.2.1 Open Time. 30 minutes to 100 h. The primer must be capable of providing acceptable adhesion properties as detaile

8、d in GM3652M when used in conjunction with an approved GMNA stationary glass bonding adhesive system after 30 minutes minimum primer open time and up to 100 h maxi- mum primer open time including abuse conditions at 35 3C, 95 5% RH. 3.2.1.1 Test Method. Using appropriate 100 mm x 300 mm painted pane

9、l, draw down a uniform 125 m wet film thickness of primer in one pass. At 0.5 min- ute intervals, touch primed surface with cotton swab. Record time at which no primer transfer to swab as the drying rate. 3.2.2 Link Up Time, GM9520P. 8 h maximum. A film of primer must link up to the paint substrate

10、within 8 h with no transfer of the primer to the tape. 12、ty, GM9763P. The require- ments of 9985757 must be met after the following environments. 3.3.2 Elevated Temperatures. 72 h at 50 2C. 3.3.3 Low Temperatures. Three (3) cycles of 17 h at 30 3C and 7 h 23 3C, 50 5% RH. 3.3.4 Shelf life storage stability. 90 days mini- mum at 35 3C. Shelf life of the ma

13、terial shall commence upon receipt from the manufacturer. 3.3.5 Pressure Stability, SAE J1864. As shipped, the primer must not separate or cake. 4 Manufacturing Process. 4.1 Drying Time. The primer must dry for 30 min- utes prior to the application of polyurethane sealant. Enamel that has been prime

14、d can be used up to 100 h after application provided it does not become con- taminated with foreign matter. 4.2 Material Handling. This primer is moisture sen- sitive. Dry air or a nitrogen blanket should be utilized in production to preclude contact with atmospheric moisture. This primer must be ag

15、itated prior to use to preclude settling of solids content. When stored at temperatures below 23C, it must be conditioned at room temperature 23 3C for 48 h prior to use. 4.3 Sensitivity to Alcohol. Slight traces of alcohol will inhibit the cure of this primer. The use of alcohol or alcohol containi

16、ng solvents is prohibited for cleanup or other uses. 4.4 Staining, GM9027P. The material must not show a migrating stain on production topcoats. 4.5 Brushability. The primer when brush applied to enamel paints substrates must completely black out the paint coatings in one application without streak-

17、 ing. 4.6 Dispensing. The material must be capable of being dispensed through N-2300/N-2345 dispensing system. It can be supplied in five gallon pails. 5 Rules and Regulations 5.1 All materials supplied to this specification must comply with the requirements of GMW3001, Rules and Regulations for Mat

18、erial Specifications. 5.2 All materials supplied to this specification must comply with the requirements of GMW3059, Re- stricted and Reportable Substances for Parts. 6 Approved Sources Engineering qualification of an approved source is required for this specification. Only sources listed in the GM

19、Materials File (i.e., MATSPC) under this specification number have been qualified by engi- neering as meeting the requirements of this specifi- cation. 7 Coding System This material specification shall be referenced in other documents, drawings, VTS, CTS, etc. as fol- lows: Material per 9985757 8 Re
