This specification covers the rquirements for materials which are designed to be applied to solder and silicon bronze joints

2、 after the ELPC bake oven. This process helps fill in disk, tile and score marks which contribute to poor quality and appearance. These materials must be sandable and compatible with BC/CC paint systems WITH- OUT primer surfacer. If the paint system uses primer surfacer, then 9984075 is the appropri

3、ate knife glaxe to use. 3.2.6 Plant Requirements. A&r passing 3.1.1, 3.1.2, 3.2.1, 3.2.3, 3.2.4 and 3.2.5 of this specification, this material must perform satisfactorily in the intended plant application as demonstrated by a plant tryout. 3.3 Process Requirements. 1.1 Specified herein are the mater

4、ial requirements per the GM Car or Truck Group, Paint Engineering Activity. These specifications are used to verify that the materials have been processed to a quality consistent with that proven in initial qualification testing. 3.3.1 Functional Rquirements. The material must continue to perform sa

5、tisfactorily in the specified production applica- tion. Failure to do so shall constitute rejection regardless of compliance with the other rquirements of this specification. 2 REFERENCED STANDARDS. 3.3.2 Quality Control Rquirements. In addition to meeting all of the above detailed rquirements, all

6、subsequent lots of an approved compound will be required to meet the standards of composition established in the originally approved lot. 7、properties and in Appendix A. 4 .INlTlAL SOURCE APPROVAL. No shipment shall be made by any supplier until representative initial production samples have been approved by engineering as meeting the requirements of this specification. 3.1 Physical Requirements. 4.1 Completed copies of the GM Material

8、Safety Data Sheet and Critical Material Register (available from the engineering department or laboratory) must be submitted with any new submissions or where a composition change has occurred. 3.1.1 Appearance. The coating shall represent a smooth, uniform continuous surface that blends into noncov

9、erage areas. The surface shall be f&e of sags, craters, blisters or any other defect detrimental to appearance or durability. 3.1.2 There shall be no objectionable difference between knife glaze/no knife glaze areas after topcoat. 5 SOURCE SHIPMENT RESPONSIBILlTY. It will be the responsibiity of the

10、 supplier to insure that the ma&al is not exposed to temperatures during shipment which would cause the material to fail to meet any of the requirements of this specification. 3.1.3 Film Thickness (ASTM D1186): 0.025 to 0.076 mm. 3.2 Performance Requirements. 3.2.1 Durability. The material must not

11、deteriorate or lose properties when exposed to either production systems or exterior environments. 3.2.2 Stability. Material shall be unaffected by normal storage periods and normal temperature variations. 6 INSPECTION AND REJECTION. All shipments of material or parts under contract or purchase orde

12、r manufac- tured to this specification shall be quivalent in every respect to the initial samples approved by engineering. There shall be no changes in either formulation or manufacturing processes permitted without prior notification and approval by engi- neering Lack of notification by the supplie

13、r constitutes grounds for rejection of any shipment. While samples may be taken from incoming shipments and checked for conformance to this specification, the supplier shall accept the nsponsibili- ty for incoming shipments meeting this specification without dependence upon purchaser s inspection. 3

14、.2.3 Tape Adhesion (ASTM D3359A and GM9071P). A minimum visual rating of 8 at 0.025 and 0.076 mm. 3.2.4 Moisture Resistance (ASTM D2247, D3359A and GM9071P). A minimum visual rating of 8 at 0.025 and 0.076 mm. 7 APPROVED SOURCES. Engineering qualification of an approved source is required for this s

15、pecification. Chtly sources listed in the GM Matetial File under this specification number have been qualified by engineering as meeting the rquirements of this specification. 3.2 Acrylic Crack (ASTM D2246, 15 cycles). 18、MATERIALS 9984133 Al Panel submissions will follow the procedures outlined in A2.2 Tape Adhesion (initial/96 h humidity): Two panels %2futiz&ion. In particular the following panels from Sets 1 and 2 and one panel from Set 3. Al.1 CRS panels, 15 (100 x MO mm), mechanically sanded using 120 grit sandp

19、aper and procemed through an approved phosphate and &rocoa t system. The subject material shall then be applied to the panels in the following manner: A2.3 Acrylic Crack Two panels from Sets 1 and 2 and one panel from Set 3. Set 1: 6 panels, 1 mm film thickness. Set2:6panels,3mmfthnthickness. Set 3:

20、 3 panels, no knife glaze material (controls). A2.4 Failure to pass any of the 3 tests is cause for rejection. A3 The following documents must accompany any submis- sions: A3.1 Submission cover letter. NOTE: Panels from Sets 1 and 2 are to be hand-sanded using 400 grit sandpaper. All 15 panels are t

21、hen to be processed through an approved BCKC paint system (9984065) without primer surfacer. A3.2 Test report (the form will be provided by the respective GM Car or Truck Group, Paint Engineering Activity), including color photographs of all test panels. A2 Required Tests: A3.3 GM Material Safety Da

22、ta Sheet. A2.1 Appearance. The panels from Sets 1 and 2 must be comparable in appearance to the panels from Set 3.
