2、 Introduction Note: Nothing in this procedure supersedes applicable laws and regulations unless a specific exemption has been obtained. Note: In the event of a conflict between the English and the domestic language, the English language will take precedence. 1.1 Purpose. Validation of the performanc

3、e capability of a vehicle ventilation system to prevent ingestion of debris from both outside the vehicle as well as from the vehicle glove box (assuming close proximity of the glove box to the blower fan). 1.2 Foreword. Not applicable. 1.3 Applicability. For all passenger vehicles with a ventilatio

4、n system. 1.4 Definitions. OSA: Outside Air Mode P/R: Recirculation Mode A/C Outlet Mode: N/A 2 References Note: Only the latest approved standards are appli-cable unless otherwise specified. 2.1 Normative. None. 2.2 GM. None. 2.3 Additional. None. 3 Resources 3.1 Facilities. Any area able to contai

5、n the vehicle to be tested with exhaust extraction system, power supply, and the necessary test equipment. 3.2 Equipment. 3.2.1 One (1) airflow measurement device (airflow machine) capable of measuring and producing air flow 215 l/s. 3.2.2 Flexible tubing with diameters of 100 mm. 3.2.3 One (1) debr

6、is collection box. (see Appendix A for description and photographs) 3.2.4 Three (3) cylindrical adapters made from metal sheets to connect the flexible tubing to the debris collection box (one on either side) and the blower scroll of the vehicle. 3.2.5 Shop Vacuum for cleaning up debris. 3.2.6 Appro

7、ximately 100 grams of small paper discs (paper punches, approximately 7 mm in diameter), 100 grams of confetti, and 100 grams of styrofoam peanuts to simulate debris. 3.3 Test Vehicle/Test Piece. Passenger vehicles equipped with a ventilation system. 3.4 Test Time. Test h: 1 h 3.5 Test Required Info

8、rmation. Test conditions as specified by the VTS. 3.6 Personnel / Skills. Two (2) observers. 4 Procedure 4.1 Preparation. 4.1.1 The vehicle shall be prepared according to 3.2 and 4.1.2. 4.1.2 Remove the blower from the blower scroll. At-tach one end of the flexible tubing to the blower scroll using

9、the metallic cylindrical adapter. Connect the other end of the tube to the inlet side of the debris collection box. Connect to the other end of of the debris collection box to the airflow machine. If the vehicle ventilation is equipped with a dirt/door filter, the filter shall be removed prior to th

10、e test, unless otherwise specified by VTS. 4.2 Conditions. 4.2.1 Environmental Conditions. Not applicable. 4.2.2 Test Conditions. Deviations from the requirements of this test procedure shall have been agreed upon. Such requirements shall be specified on component drawings, test certificates, report

11、s, etc. 4.2.2.1 Vehicle Conditions. N/A 4.3 Instructions. 4.3.1

12、Test Description - Plenum Ingestion. Keep the vehicle in OSA mode (Recirculation door in closed position). Start the airflow machine and increase the fan speed until airflow equal to the zero body airflow of the vehicle (as specified by VTS) is achieved. After the required airflow is achieved, sprin

13、kle the paper discs slowly on cowl inlet area at base of windshield, along the length of the windshield. Observe the debris collection box of any paper discs entering into the ventilation system. Any areas allowing continuous ingestion of debris shall be marked. Feed paper discs into the windshield

14、wiper pivots and observe the debris collection box for any leakage. Mark the pivots if any continuous leakage is observed. 4.3.2 Test Description - Glove Box Ingestion. Place different kinds of simulated debris (3.2.6) side by side inside the glove box, on top of the owners manual. Keep the glove bo

15、x open. Select P/R (Recirculation door in open position). Start the airflow machine and increase the fan speed until airflow equal to the zero body airflow of the vehicle (as specified by VTS) is achieved. After the required air flow is achieved, slam the glove box shut and observe for any debris ge

16、tting into the ventilation system. Repeat the procedure three times. Note: Test is not necessary if the glove box is not close to the blower inlet (recirculation mode) or the glove box is closed on all sides. 4.3.3 Data to be Recorded. Vehicle data, mileage and description of the system to be valida

17、ted. Test number and date. Name of the person in charge of the test and the observer (if applicable). List of calibrated test equipment. 5 Data 5.1 Calculations. Not applicable. 5.2 Interpretation of Results. The targets are de- fined by the VTS. 5.3 Test Documentation. With reference to this test p

18、rocedure the results of the tests shall be presented in a test report. 6 Safety This method may involve hazardous materials, operations and equipment. This method does not propose to address all the safety problems associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this method to estab

19、lish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limita-tions prior to use. 7 Coding System This test procedure shall be called up in other documents, drawings, VTS, CTS etc. as follows: Test to GMW3070. 8 Release and Revisions 8.1 Release.
