10、withdrawn. This Part of BS 5734 is the second in a series for polyester moulding compounds; the other Parts are as follows: Part 1: Methods of test; Part 3: Specification for dough moulding compounds for mechanical purposes; Part 4: Specification for sheet moulding compounds for electrical purposes;

11、 Part 5: Specification for sheet moulding compounds for mechanical purposes. Three types of dough moulding compound for electrical mouldings only are now specified in this Part since these more accurately reflect commercial usage than the five shown in the previous edition. They may be further disti

Given in Appendix A is a list of additional properties that may be the subject of purchaser/supplier agreements, together with appropriate test methods that can be used to assess compliance. The properties specified in Table 1 and those recommended in Appendix A are i

Users of this British Standard are advised to consider the desirability of third party certification of product conformity with this British Standard based on testing and continuing surveillance, whic

Enquiries as to the availability of third party certification schemes will be forwarded by BSI to the Association of Certification Bodies. If a third party certification scheme does not already e

Summary of pages This document comprises a front cover, an inside front cover, pages i and ii, pages 1 to 4, an inside back cover and a back cover. This standard has been updated (see copyright date) and may have had amendments incorporated. T

18、 are classified according to their electrical and mechanical properties and if required can be further distinguished by their oxygen index. Compounds whose fibrous reinforcement includes asbestos or glass other than E-glass are excluded. NOTE 1Appendix A lists further properties and appropriate test

19、 methods that may be specified by agreement between the purchaser and the supplier. NOTE 2The titles of the publications referred to in this standard are listed on the inside back cover. 2 Definitions For the purposes of this Part of BS 5734, the following definitions apply. 2.1 E-glass low alkali g

20、lass containing not more than 1 % of alkali metal oxides expressed as Na2O 2.2 batch a quantity of material so designated by the manufacturer and of uniform quality 3 Classification Requirements are specified for three types of dough moulding compounds according to their mechanical strength and are

21、resistance: E1: for mouldings with superior mechanical strength; E2: a general purpose material with good mechanical strength; E3: as E2 but with resistance to power arcing. 4 Composition The material shall consist of an unsaturated polyester resin system, combined with fillers and fibrous reinforce

22、ment other than asbestos, to form a mix which is capable of being cured by moulding under heat and pressure. If the reinforcement contains glass fibre it shall be made from E-glass. 5 Preparation of test specimens The moulding conditions shall be as given in Annex C of BS 2782:Method 902A. Test spec

23、imens for the determination of electric strength and water absorption shall be moulded to size. Test specimens for the determination of impact strength shall be either moulded to size or cut from moulded sheet. They shall be notched by milling as specified in BS 2782:Method 359. In cases of dispute,

24、 the specimens shall be moulded to size. Test specimens for the remainder of the tests specified in Table 1 shall be cut from moulded sheet. 6 Conditioning of test specimens before testing Unless otherwise specified in the test method, moulded test specimens shall be conditioned for at least 16 h at

25、 a temperature of 23 2 C and ambient relative humidity before testing. 7 Properties When tested by the appropriate methods, the moulded and conditioned material (see clauses 5 and 6) shall comply with Table 1. NOTESee Appendix A for optional requirements that a purchaser may wish to specify. 8 Stora

26、ge life The manufacturer shall state the storage life of the material when kept in the original unopened container under the conditions recommended by the manufacturer. Immediately after first opening the container, at any time within the stated storage life, the material shall be mouldable and shal

27、l comply with clause 7. 9 Marking Containers of material shall be marked clearly with the following information: a) manufacturers name or trade mark; b) material classification; c) batch number; d) number and date of this British Standard, i.e. BS 5734-2:19901). 1) Marking BS 5734-2:1990 on or in re

In no circumstances should the test results thus obtained be considered as an overall indication of the potential fire hazard presented under the actual conditions of use by products made from the dough moulding compounds.
