7、 has been prepared under the direction of the Electrical Illumination Standards Policy Committee and is the English language version of EN 60 598-2-10 “Luminaires Part 2: Particular requirements Section 10 Portable child-appealing luminaires”, including Amendment A1 and Amendment A2 published by the

8、 European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC). It was adopted by that organization from IEC Publication 598-2-10 (1987) edition 1, as amended by Amendment No. 1:1990 and Amendment No. 2:1995, which is identical with the European Standard. The foreword and preface of IEC Publicat

9、ion 598-2-10 (1987) edition 1, which do not form part of the text of EN 60 598-2-10, have been quoted in National appendix NA. Annexes designated “normative” are part of the body of the standard. Annexes designated “informative” are given for information only. National appendices are designated “inf

10、ormative”. In 10.1, 10.2, 10.12 and 10.13 where the words “section of Part 2 of IEC Publication 598”, “section of Part 2” and “section of IEC Publication 598-2” appear they should be read as “section of BS 4533”. In 10.1 and 10.2 where “Part 1” appears this should be read as “Part 101”. Where the wo

11、rds “Publication 598-1” appear they should be read as “BS 4533-101”. The foreword of Amendment A2 to EN 60598-2-10 makes reference to “date of withdrawal (dow) of conflicting national standards” as “1996-04-01”. In this case the relevant national standard is BS 4533-102.10 but the dow relates only t

12、o those parts of the British Standard subject to Amendment No. 1. Certificates and marks will not be awarded after this date with respect to the British Standard not incorporating Amendment No. 1. They will be awarded with respect only to the amended British Standard. However, such certificates and

37、lled Copy, (c) BSI EN 60 598-2-10:1989 BSI 03-19995 10.1 Scope This section of Part 2 of IEC Publication 598 specifies requirements for portable child-appealing luminaires for use with tungsten filament lamps on supply voltages not exceeding 24 V (SELV). It is to be read in conjunction with those se

38、ctions of Part 1 to which reference is made. 10.2 General test requirements The provisions of Section Zero of IEC Publication 598-1 apply. The tests described in each appropriate section of Part 1 shall be carried out in the order listed in this section of Part 2. 10.3 Definitions For the purpose of

39、 this section the definitions of Section 1 of Publication 598-1 apply together with the following definition: 10.3.1 portable child-appealing luminaire a luminaire that in normal use can be moved from one place to another while connected to the supply and which is constructed to represent a model, p

40、erson or animal such that due to the design and materials used it could be treated, by a child, as a toy NOTEExamples of such luminaires are: nightlights using filament lamps; replicas of persons, animals, buildings, cars or trains with internal or external filament lamps. 10.4 Classification of lum

41、inaires The provisions of Section 2 of Publication 598-1 apply except that portable child-appealing luminaires shall be classified Class III but with a maximum rated voltage of 24 V (SELV) and shall be classified as suitable for direct mounting or standing on normally flammable surfaces. 10.5 Markin

42、g The provisions of Section 3 of Publication 598-1 apply together with the requirements of Sub-clause 10.5.1. 10.5.1 Luminaires intended only for use with safety isolating transformers shall be marked “For operation only with safety isolating transformer” according to IEC Publication 742. 10.6 Const

43、ruction The provisions of Section 4 of Publication 598-1 apply together with the requirements of Sub-clauses 10.6.1 to 10.6.5. 10.6.1 For portable child-appealing luminaires, the insulation of flexible cables and cords shall be protected from damage when moving or adjusting the luminaire. Compliance

44、 shall be checked by inspection. 10.6.2 Portable child-appealing luminaires shall have adequate stability. Compliance shall be checked by placing the luminaire in the most unfavourable position of normal use on a plane inclined at an angle of 15 to the horizontal, the surface of the plane being such

45、 that luminaire does not slide. The luminaire shall not overturn. Luminaires which are fastened by clamps or similar devices are not subjected to this test. 10.6.3 Portable child-appealing luminaires shall have adequate mechanical strength and be so constructed as to withstand the rough handling tha

46、t may occur when played with by a child. Compliance shall be checked by the tests of Sub-clauses 10.6.4 and 10.6.5. 10.6.4 Covers or similar parts forming part of the protection against overheating or protection against touching heated parts of the luminaire shall be tested with an impact energy of

47、0.7 Nm during the tests of Sub-clause 4.13 of Section 4 of Publication 598-1. 10.6.5 A portable child-appealing luminaire is allowed to fall, in the most unfavourable position, once from a height of 1 m onto a concrete floor. The luminaire shall show no damage within the meaning of this standard. 10

48、.7 Creepage distances and clearances The provisions of Section 11 of Publication 598-1 apply. 10.8 Provision for earthing Portable child-appealing luminaires shall not be provided with means for protective or functional earthing. 10.9 Terminals The provisions of Section 14 and Section 15 of Publicat

49、ion 598-1 apply.
