、 MDTNo reproduction or networking permitted without license from IHS -,-,- Abstract: This guide provides a recommended table of contents for high-voltage circuit breaker instruction manuals. The guide provides a listing of information that will help a knowledgeable user receive, install, commission,

、 operate, and maintain circuit breakers. Recommended additional material is described in Clause 5 for circuit breakers that are intended for high-voltage, free-standing installations. Drawout circuit breakers used in switchgear are excluded from Clause 5 requirements. Circuit breakers used in gas-in

、sulated switchgear installations are excluded from this guide. This guide in no way replaces the manufacturers instruction manual, which is to be used for safe and effective utilization of the circuit breaker. This guide helps organize instruction manual information in a consistent and user-friendly

When a document is more than five years old and has not been reaffirmed, it is reasonable to conclude that its contents, although still of some value, do not wholly reflect the present state of the art. When the need for interpretations is brought to the attention of IEEE, the Institute will initiate action to prepare appropriate responses. Since IEEE Standards represent a conse

This first issue o

、f the IEEE Guide for High-Voltage (1000 V) Circuit Breaker Instruction Manual Content provides guidance or assistance to manufacturers on the data and information to include with their circuit breaker instruction manuals. Circuit breaker instruction manuals are considered to include all component in

、structions, drawings and illustrations, data sheets, documentation, and other written information provided by the circuit breaker manufacturer. The specific material recommended for inclusion in instruction manuals is that data and information commonly employed by users for the installation and oper

、ation and maintenance of circuit breakers. A separate Clause 5 contains additional information for specific high-voltage, free-standing circuit breakers such as some nameplate information, some test measurements, and some setting or calibration data as well as the other topics required for the insta

、llation, operation, and maintenance of a circuit breaker. This summary information is not intended to replace a thorough review of more detailed information contained in the manufacturers instruction manual. Clause 5 does not apply to drawout circuit breakers such as those used in switchgear assembl

、ies. A generic instruction manual may be more appropriate for such circuit breakers and the instruction manual for these circuit breakers may apply to many other circuit breakers produced over a wide range of time. This guide does not apply to circuit breakers used in gas insulated switchgear. A man

、ufacturers instruction manual is the definitive reference for information on the receiving, installation, operation, maintenance, and disposal of circuit breakers. This guide is not intended to provide or replace the circuit breaker data normally found on the nameplate, the test reports, or the vari

、ous other forms of data provided to owners of circuit breakers by the circuit breaker manufacturer. The guide is intended to provide a recommended minimum content for a high-voltage circuit breaker instruction manual. Notice to users Laws and regulations Users of these documents should consult all a
