9、as they are completed and approved, and until the first nine Parts are published it will not be possible to supersede the present British Standards for lighting columns. As the Parts are issued recommendations will be given for their implementation together with a list of clauses in the existing sta

10、ndards which they will eventually supersede. It is hoped that a gradual change-over will be obtained which will terminate with the total withdrawal of the existing standards. The British Standards affected by BS 5649 are BS 1308, BS 1840 and BS 3989, specifications for concrete, steel and aluminium

11、street lighting columns respectively. It is anticipated that the affected clauses in BS 1840 and BS 3989 will be withdrawn one year from the date of publication of this Part of this standard: BS 1308 is not affected by this Part of this standard. BS 5649-4 covers the requirements of clause 16 in BS

12、1840 and clause 7 in BS 3989. It should be noted that the work on the further Part, dealing with special requirements for plastics columns and mentioned in the CEN foreword, is not now to proceed. National appendix B lists the British Standards which relate to EN 40-4. NOTE The titles of the publica

The preparation of the surfaces of the areas A and B to receive the coating should be by blast cleaning to grade Sa 2 of Swedish Standard SIS 05 5900. 29、tection of aluminium alloy lighting columns Aluminium alloy columns with the exception of the ground section are customarily delivered in the natural condition. The following surface treatment should be carried out: Area A: a coat of primer (with corrosion protection pigment) Area B: a coat of prime

30、r (with corrosion protection pigment) and/or a coat of bitumen Area C: a coat of bitumen Area A: None Area B: Non-porous, electrically insulating bitumen containing coating with a minimum layer thickness of 250 m. The coating should only be applied after degreasing and an appropriate preliminary tre
