、37-3.7:1978 ii BSI 05-1999 Foreword This revision of BS 4737 has been prepared under the direction of the Electronic Equipment Standards Committee to reflect the technical advances in the industry since the publication of the 1971 edition. It takes account of Amendment No. 1, 1972 (AMD 1064) and of

、Amendment No. 2, 1973 (AMD 1218). It is being published in a number of separate Sections, as follows. Part 1: Requirements for systems with audible signalling only; Section 1.1: Installation; Section 1.2: Maintenance and records; Part 2: Requirements for systems with remote signalling; Section 2.1:

、Installation; Section 2.2: Maintenance and records; Part 3: Requirements for detection devices, consisting of a number of separate Sections (3.1 to 3.15). The specifications for detection devices (including this Section of BS 4737) are to be read in conjunction with Section 1.1 or Section 2.1, as ap

、n alarm condition in response to a change in infra-red radiation level when a person enters and moves in the area or volume of coverage 4 Area or volume of coverage 4.1 The area or volume of coverage of the detector is that area or volume within which the entry and movement tangential to the detecto

、r of a 60 20 kg person walking at any speed between 0.3 m/s and 0.6 m/s through a distance of 2 m causes the detector to generate an alarm condition or to signal to a processing device. The installer shall identify the area or volume of coverage in the equipment record (see 7.1 of BS 4737-2.2:1977).

、 NOTEIt should be recognized that the area or volume effectively protected by the device may extend beyond the stated area or volume of coverage as a result of the judicious siting of the detector in relation to points of entry to the premises. Alteration of the position of objects within the area o

、r volume of coverage may cause significant changes in the area or volume protected. 4.2 A method of indication shall be provided to enable the subscriber to check the area or volume of coverage before the system is closed. 5 Sensitivity The detector shall not generate an alarm condition when a targe

、 to impair the performance of the detector. 8 Environment The requirements of this British Standard shall be met by the detector under any combination of the following environmental conditions. 9 Interference The detector shall be adequately protected against any externally-generated radio-frequency

、 interference and/or mains-borne interference which may normally be expected to occur within the working environment. 10 Housing The detector and any processing device shall be housed in one or more containers. It shall not be possible to open the container(s) by the normal means of access without o
