、m UDC 666.973,6.015.46:620,192.5 JAPANESE INDUSTRIAL STANDARD J I S Testing Methods for Volume Change of A 1162-1973 Cellular Concrete (Reaffirmed 1982) 1. Scope 1.1 This Japanese Industrial Standard specifies the length change of cellular concrete manufactured by ordinary-pressure curing, hereinaft

、er referred to as the “cellular concrete“. Further, the cellular concrete that has been subjected to high pressure curing shall comply with JIS A 5416. 1.2 The cellular concrete mentioned here (l) is a concrete manufactured so as to homogeneously include fine bubbles of air (2) in its cement paste b

、y a volumetric ratio of not less than 25 , Z to the paste, and cured under ordinary-pressure to a bulk specific gravity (3) of not more than 1.2. Notes (I) There is also a cellular concrete that includes aggregates, and the like. (2) The bubbles of air are produced by mixing the cement paste with a

、blowing or foaming agent or by using stable bubbles that have been prepared in advance. The bulk specific gravity means the bulk specific gravity in absolute dry condition obtained according to 6.2 of JIS A 1161. (3) 1.3 The length change is represented by the coefficient of change calculated from t

、he rate of change in the effective length of the specimen, when it is tested in accordance with the specifications hereinafter (see 9. Determination of Rate of Length Change). 2. Testing Apparatus 2.1 Formwork The formwork shall be the one with inside dimensions of 4 cm x 4 cm x 16 cm specified in 2

、.1 of JIS A 1125. However, the inside dimensions may be 10 cm x 10 cm x 40 cm, as required (4). o Note (4) In such cases where tests are made on the sample containing coarse aggregates, the sample intended for the comparison with a concrete, etc. 2.2 Milky Glass Piece for Gauge Line The milky glass

、is a material that is intended for scribing a gauge line for length change measurement on it, being buried in the specimen. It shall be about 10 mm square in size and its surface on which the gauge line is to be scribed shall be flat and smooth. 2.3 Scriber and Length Change Measurement Device The s

、criber and the length change measurement device used for scribing the gauge line and for measuring the length change shall be those specified in 2.3 and 2.4 of JIS A 1125. Dimensions and Number of Specimens 3.1 Dimensions of Specimens The specimen shall be 4 cm x 4 cm in cross section and 16 cm in length, However, it may be 10 cm x 10 cm i

、n cross section and 40 cm in length, as reqnired. 3.2 Number of Specimens It shall be three for one sample. 4. Assembly of Formwork and Fitting of Milky Glass Piece 4.1 Assembly of Formwork It shall be assembled with the joints of form boards being inserted with thin layers of oily clay or hard grea

、se to prevent water leakage and with its inside surfaces coated with mineral oil, for example. 4.2 Fitting of Milky Glass Piece Two pieces of milky glass that are to be buried in the specimen when it is formed shall be lightly fixed on the centre line of either one plane of the formwork inside to gi

、ve a centre-to-centre distance of about 140 mm, with grease or the like. However, for a specimen of 10 cm x 10 cm x 40 cm size, the milky glass pieces shall be placed so that the centre-to-centre distance between them is about 340 mm. In the event, where a milky glass piece comes off the specimen in

、 the course of removing the form, it shall instantly be replaced in the original place and fixed with cement paste. 5. Method of Placing Test Piece, Curing and Removing Form 5.1 Method of Placing The sample shall be placed so that its height after hardening is a little higher than that of the formwo

、rk. In this case, care shall be taken so that any large cavity does not remain in the sample. 5.2 Curing and Removing Form The sample placed shall be cured in the condition where the evaporation of moisture is prevented, and in a room at a temperature of 20 + 3OC. away at a suitable-time to make the

、 top surface of the specimen flat. formwork shall be removed around 48 h after forming. It is recommended that the time of shaving away the part of shrinkage allowance should be around 24 h after placing. The part of shrinkage allowance shall be shaved The 6 . Measuring Base Length 6.1 Immediately a

、fter removing the formwork, the specimen shall be marked with gauge lines on its milky glass pieces with a scriber in accordance with 2.3 of JIS A 1125, and the gauge length shall be measured in accordance with 9.3 of JIS A 1125. The gauge length at this time is taken as the base length ( (Lo) 1. 6.

、2 Prior to the measurement of specimens, the distance between the microscope positions shall be verified with a standard scale. measuring device shall be maintained at 20 - + 3OC temperature for not less than 3 h before the measurement. Storing Specimen 7.1 Immediately after measurement of

、 the base length, the specimen shall be stored in a room or box the atmosphere in which is maintained at 20 + 3OC temperature and 70 - + 3 % humidity (5). - Note (5) The storage box, when used, shall be able to be sealed up, and shall have inside measurements of about 24 cm width by 19 cm depth by 1

、2 cm height. However, for the specimen with 10cm x 10cm x 40 cm size, the inside dimensions shall be about 50 cm x 44 cm x 37 cm. For keeping the humidity in the storage box at 70 + 3 % humidity, a dish as wide as possible is placed at The bottom of the box, filled with a saturated solution at a rat

、io of 80 g sodium nitrate and 120 g calcium chloride dissolved in 100 g water, and the box is sealed up to keep the atmosphere inside at 20 + - 3OC temperature. 7.2 During the storage period, each specimen shall be placed horizontal, being supported at two places, with the surface in which milky gla

、ss pieces are buried with faced sideways. a The distance between adjacent specimens shall be not less than 1 cm in every case, and each specimen shall be supported at a place about 3 cm inward the end. However, for 10cm x 10cm x 40cm specimens, the distance between adjacent specimens shall be not le

、ss than 2.5 cm and the places of support shall be about 8 cm inward the specimen ends. In both cases specimens shall not be piled up one upon another. Remark: In the case where specimens are stored one upon another in a thermo-hygrostatic chamber, or the like. the distance between the upper and lowe

、r shelves shall be not less than 30 cm. 8. Method of Measuring Length 8.1 The method of storing the measuring device shall comply with 6.2. 8.2 The method of measuring the length of the specimen in determining the rate of length change shall comply with 9.3 of JIS A 1125. The gauge length in this ca

、se shall be taken as the effective length ( L ) . 9. Method of Obtaining Rate of Length Change 9.1 The rate of length change shall be given for 8-week age, and with a specimen of 10 cm x 1 0 cm x 40 cm size, it shall be given with 13-week age. However, the value for other age than 8 or 13 weeks shal

、l also be given, as required. Remark: In this case, the method of measuring length shall comply with 8 and the method of obtaining with 9.2. 9.2 The rate of length change shall be calculated from the following formula and expressed by a figure effective to the second decimal place.
