3、he Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry through deliberations at the Japanese Industrial Standards Committee, as the result of proposal for revision of Japanese Industrial Standard submitted by the Japan Electrical Wiring Devices and Equipment Industries Association (JEWA)/the Japanese Standards
4、Association (JSA) with the draft being attached, based on the provision of Article 12 Clause 1 of the Industrial Standardization Law applicable to the case of revision by the provision of Article 14. Consequently JIS C 8328 : 1995 is replaced with this Standard. Attention is drawn to the possibility

18、IAL STANDARD JIS C 8328 : 2003 Low voltage panelboards for household use 1 Scope This Japanese Industrial Standard specifies low voltage panelboards for household use (hereafter referred to as “household panelboards”) with the rated cur- rent not exceeding 150 A intended for use in houses or the lik
19、e, as the entrance ser- vice apparatus for electric circuit of 100 V a.c. single phase two-wire system or 100/ 200 V a.c. single-phase three-wire system at a frequency 50 Hz or 60 Hz. Remarks 1 The above-mentioned “houses or the like” includes shop, office, etc. in addition to houses. 2 Panelboards

23、r household use (household panelboard) A cabinet in which the whole or a part of the main switch, branch switches, residual current oper- ated circuit breaker, etc. (hereafter referred to as “internal apparatus”) are as- sembled. There are two kinds in household panelboards, i.e. one provides and th
24、e other does not provide set up space of current limiter (hereafter referred to as uL-space7). rated current of household panelboard The current marked on a house- hold panelboard (it means the current which can be passed continuously with the temperature rise of bus bar not exceeding the specified
25、value). rated voltage of household panelboard The voltage marked on a house- hold panelboard (it means standard voltage of the electric circuit). cabinet A container which accommodates the internal apparatus. There are two kinds, i.e. one with cover and the other with door, and each composed of the

28、d panelboard which forms the walls of the top, bot- tom, right and left sides as well as the rear face of the board. cover A part of the household panelboard which is so constructed that it cov- ers the front of the panelboard entirely, and the switching operation of the in- ternal apparatus can be
29、made without removing it. door A part of household panelboard which is supported by the box or the like by means of hinge so that it can be opened and closed, and covers the front of the cabinet. intermediate base A mounting plate for mounting the internal apparatus. The internal apparatus are assem
30、bled on the intermediate base and then Fixed in the box as one body. intermediate lid The plate which is prepared behind the door to cover the live parts. It is so constituted that the switching operation of the internal ap- paratus can be made without removing it. front plate The part which covers
31、the front of household panelboard, other than door, intermediate lid and cover. surface type A type of panelboard construction which allows installation with the box entirely or partly exposed from the structural surface. flush type A type of panelboard construction which allows installation with th
32、e box entirely recessed into the structure. common type for surface and flush mounting A type of panelboard con- struction which allows installation for either of surface or flush type. main switch A residual current operated circuit breaker fitted to the power side of the bus bar (in some cases a m
33、oulded case circuit breaker). branch switch A switch equipped with an overcurrent release, which is Fit- ted to each branch circuit from the bus bar. protection against lack of neutral line in single-phase three-wire sys- tem In some cases the load side apparatus may be burnt due to application of o
34、vervoltage which may appear according to the conditions of the load side cir- cuits when the neutral line in a single-phase three-wire system is lost for any reason. This system interrupts the circuit by detection of voltage imbalance to prevent damage to the apparatus. bus bar The electric conducto
35、r in a household panelboard, other than branch conductor, that supplies electric power to two or more branch switches. branch conductor The electric conductor to be connected between the bus bar and the branch switch. 40、 be provided in a panelboard in addition to its long-term tripping characteristic that the instantaneous operat- ing characteristic falls in the effective range for protection against short circuit by arc of the cord. y) 4 Standard service conditions Unless otherwise specified, the standard service
41、conditions of household panelboards shall be as follows: a) The ambient temperature shall be within the range of highest temperature 40 O C and lowest temperature -5 O C . The average value over 24 h shall not exceed 35 OC. b) The altitude shall not exceed 2 O00 m. c) d) e) The relative humidity sha
42、ll be within the range of 45 % to 85 %. Such a state that the board will not receive abnormal vibration or shock. Such an atmosphere that there is no excess steam, oil vapour, smoke, dust, salt, or corrosive substances. 6 Classification The household panelboards are classified as follows: a) They ar
43、e classified in accordance with the materials of enclosure (box, cover, front plate and door) constituting the cabinet, as follows: 1) Made of synthetic resins. 2) Made of metals. 3) They are classified in accordance with the type of cabinets, as follows: 1) 2) With cover. They are classified in accordance with existence or non-existence of main switch, as follows: 1) Without main switch. 2) Common type for surface and flush mounting. d) e) With main switch. 47、 made in accor- dance with the name of main switch used, as follows: 2.1) Residual current operated circuit breaker (ones with protection against lack of neutral line in single-phase three-wire system). 2.2) Moulded case circuit breaker.
