8、uplings (hereafter referred to as “fittings”) to be used for the pliable plastics conduits (hereafter referred to as “PF conduits”, “CD conduits” and “pliable conduits” generically). 6 2 Normative references The following standards contain provisions which, through reference in this Standard, consti

9、tute provisions of this Standard. The most recent editions of the standards indicated below shall be applied. 11、its Remarks : 3 Definitions For the purpose of this Standard the following principal definitions apply: a) coupling A connecting fitting which connects pliable conduits of the same type to each other. b) connector A connecting fitting which connects a pliable conduit to a box or the like. c) combina

12、tion coupling A connecting fitting which connects a pliable conduit to a conduit of other type. non-flame propagating fitting A fitting which is liable to catch fire as a result of applied flame, in which the flame does not propagate, and which ex- tinguishes itself within a limited time after the f

17、 fittings for PF conduit b) flame propagating fittings (non-self-extinguishable one): fittings for CD con- duit 5 Performances The performances of fittings shall comply with Table 3, when the tests are carried out in accordance with 8. However the test for resistance to burning (self-extinguishable

18、property) is not applicable to fittings for CD conduits. 19、 C 8412 : 1999 Item Performance Resistance to shock Nine or more samples out of 12 samples shall not show evidence of decomposition, cracks or fissures found out by visual check, nor deformation detrimental to normal service. 20、y as previously assembled with the conduits and show no cracks or fissures found out by visual check. Tensile strength 8.2 Burning resistance (self-extinguishable property) The flame shall go off within 30 s after removal of the glow wire. 8 . 3 Dielectric strength The tripping device shall not oper

21、ate during the test for 15 min. 6 Construction The construction of fittings shall comply with the following re- quirement s: Insulation resistance External influences a b) The insulation resistance shall be 5 MC2 or more. The fitting shall have a resistance of IP30 or better. 8.5 8.6 d) The fitting

22、shall be free from sharp edges and/or burrs which may damage the insulated conductors or cables or injure the installer or user on its inside sur- face, and from any projection on its surface. If threaded components are used for attaching the parts constituting the fitting or the cover, or for conne

23、cting and fixing the conduits, the threaded components shall not cause damage of the insulation of cable when they are correctly at- tached. The fixing means by thread shall be so designed that they can withstand the mechanical stress which will occur during the installation and/or normal ser- vice.

24、 For threaded components which mate with the internal threads provided on non- metallic material and the threaded components of non-metallic material, operations each consisting of tightening and loosening the mating shall be carried out 10 times. In other cases, the operations shall be carried out

25、5 times. The test shall be carried out by applying the torque specified in Table 4 using a corresponding screwdriver or spanner. The threaded components shall not be tightened quickly or violently. After the test, there shall be no trouble to reuse the thread, nor damage on the head and thread. The

26、materials used for the joints, e.g. rubber and fiber, which may be exposed to the external influence when they are assembled in accordance with the in- struction manual of the manufacturer shall have at least the resistance to the external influence of the same level as that of the conduits or the f

27、ittings. 37、 the tests are as follows: a) The tests specified in this Standard are type tests. 0 b) Unless otherwise specified, the tests shall be carried out at an ambient tem- perature of 23 O C k 2 OC. c) Unless otherwise specified, each test shall be carried out on 3 new samples. Remarks : In some tests, e.

38、g. dimensional check, the characteristics of samples do not change, therefore such samples may be used for the tests to be carried out thereafter, being considered as new samples. d) The samples shall be subjected to pre-conditioning at a temperature of 23 O C k 2 O C and a relative humidity of 40 %

39、 to 60 % for at least 240 h. All the tests shall be carried out immediately after the pre-conditioning. Unless otherwise specified, the samples for each test shall be free from dirt and be under new state. All the components for tests shall be arranged at the pre- scribed positions, and the samples

41、1999 ) If the part of a fitting is capable of attaching and detaching the conduit, the fitting shall be capable of being reassembled, after the test, according to the instruction manual of the manufacturer, without losing the initial characteris- tics. g) Unless otherwise specified, 3 samples shall

42、be submitted to a test and if they pass the test, the requirement is considered as satisfied. If only one sample fails a test due to a defect caused by manufacturing, the test and the previ- ously carried-out test(s) possible to affect the said test result shall be carried out again, and the subsequ

43、ent tests shall be made in the necessary sequence by using separate perfect samples, and such samples shall comply with the require- ments. Remarks : When samples for additional tests are not submitted at the same time with the submission of the first test samples, if one sample fails the test, the

44、whole lot is rejected. The applicant can submit additional test samples at the time of submitting the first test samples as the provision against the failure of one sample among the said samples. In such a case the tester shall carry out the tests on the additional test samples without requiring new

45、 test samples, and reject the lot only when further failure appears. h) If poisonous and/or hazardous environment may be produced, necessary precaution for safety of the persons in the testing area shall be provided. 8.1 test samples by means of the test apparatus specified in Fig. 4. Shock resistan

46、ce test The shock resistance test shall be carried out on 12 a) Before the test, assemble the sample with the components including the con- duits which are necessary for the test so that they are in the normal service state. This test is not applicable to the component which will not receive im- pac

47、t when it is mounted as in normal service state and the small sized fitting with a maximum dimension less than 20 mm. b) Place the test apparatus on a shock absorber having a thickness of 40 mm -t- 1 mm and a density of 538 kg/m3i 22 kglm3 before compression. c) Place the samples together with the t

48、est apparatus in a freezer. Maintain the temperature at -5 “C I 2 “C (-25 “C -I- 2 OC, for type-25). When the samples have attained the temperature or after 2 h, whichever is the longer period, place each sample on the steel base of the test apparatus and allow a hammer to fall once. The mass of the hammer shall be 2.0:.02 kg and the fall height shall be 100 mm 1 mm. Carry out the test on the weakest point of the fitting, but do not apply the impact within 5 mm from the port for
