3、rd This translation has been made based on the original Japanese Indus- trial Standard established by the Minister of Economy, Trade and In- dustry through deliberations at the Japanese Industrial Standards Committee according to the proposal of establishing a Japanese Indus- trial Standard from Ele

4、ctronic Materials Manufacturers Association of Japan (EMAJ) i Japanese Standards Association (JSA), with a draft of Industrial Standard based on the provision of Article 12 Clause 1 of the Industrial Standardization Law. This Standard has been made based on IEC 61643-21 : 2000 Low voltage surge prot

5、ective devices-Part 22 Surge protective devices connected to telecommunications and signalling networks -Performance requirements and testing methods for the pur- poses of making it easier to compare this Standard with International Standard; to prepare Japanese Industrial Standard conforming with I

6、n- ternational Standard; and to propose a draft of an International Stan- dard which is based on Japanese Industrial Standard. 12、th (mounting) SPDs shall be provided with appropriate means for mounting that will ensure mechanical stability. 5.3.3 Resistance to ingress of solid objects and to harmful ingress of water SPDs shall be designed in such a way that they operate satisfactorily under the service con- ditions described

13、in 4.1. SPDs installed in the outdoor environment shall be contained in a weather shield of glass, glazed ceramic or other acceptable material that is resis- tant to UV radiation, corrosion, erosion, and tracking. They shall have sufficient sur- face creepage distance between any two parts of differ

14、ent potential. 5.3.4 Protection against direct contact For protection against direct contact (inac- cessibility of live parts), SPDs shall be designed in such a way that live parts cannot be touched when the SPD is installed for the intended use. This requirement is valid for accessible SPDs where t

15、he U, is above 50 Vr.m.s. or 71 V d.c. SPDs, except SPDs classified as inaccessible, shall be so designed that, when they are wired and mounted as for normal use, live parts are not accessible, even after re- moval of parts which can be removed without the use of a tool (checked by the isolated part

16、s test of 6.3.4). The connection between the grounding terminals, and all accessible parts connected thereto, shall be of low resistance (see JIS C 0920). 5.3.5 or self-extinguishing. 5.4 The SPD intended only for the uncontrolled envi- ronment of 4.1, shall conform to the following environmental re

17、quirements after an agreement between the user and the manufacturer. 5.4.1 The SPD shall be exposed to 80 “C and 90 % RH. The duration of the exposure shall be selected from table 15. This test shall be performed only on those SPDs intended for use in uncontrolled environments, and shall be in accor

18、dance with 6.4.1. After exposure, the voltage-limiting compo- nent(s) of the SPD shall meet the requirements of 5.2.1.2 and 5.2.1.3. If the SPD under test contains current-limiting component(s), these shall meet the requirements of 5.2.2.2 and 5.2.2.3. Fire resistance Insulating parts of the housing

21、g with impulse surges During and after cycling, the voltage-limiting component(s) of the SPD shall meet the requirements of 5.2.1.2 and 5.2.1.3. 23、 only on those SPDs intended for use in uncontrolled en- vironments, and shall be performed in accordance with 6.4.2. If a manufacturers series of SPDs are identical, except for the U, value, and the parts used are identical, except changes in the voltage ratings of voltage-limiting and current-limi

24、ting components to match a specific SPD U, value, then only the SPD with the highest voltage protection level shall be tested. 5.4.3 The SPD shall be subjected to tem- perature cycling at high humidity while conducting alternating currents. These cur- rents and their duration shall be selected from

25、table 5. The type of temperature cycling shall be selected from table 16. During and after cycling, the SPD shall meet the re- quirements of 5.2.1.2 and 5.2.1.3. Environmental cycling with a.c. surges This test shall be performed only on those SPDs intended for use in uncontrolled en- vironments and

26、 shall be performed in accordance with 6.4.3. If a manufacturers series of SPDs are identical, except for the U, value, and the parts used are identical, except changes in the voltage ratings of voltage-limiting and current-limiting components to match a specific SPD U, value, then only the SPD with

27、 the highest voltage protection level shall be tested. 6 Type test 6.1 General tests 6.1.1 Identification and documentation Identification and documentation shall meet the requirements of 5.1.1 by inspection. 6.1.2 Marking Verification of the markings shall be carried out by inspection. The followin

28、g indelibility test shall be applied on markings of all types except those made by impressing, moulding and engraving. The test is made by rubbing the marking by hand for 15 s with a piece of cotton wool soaked with water and again for 15 s with a piece of cotton soaked with hexane solvent with a co

29、ntent of aromatics of maximum 1 % volume, a kauributanol value of 29, initial boiling-point approximately 65 “C and specific gravity of 0.68 g/cm3. After this test, the marking shall be easily legible. 6.2 Electrical tests 6.2.1 Voltage-limiting tests 6.2.1.1 insulation resistance test in 6.2.1.2. 6

30、.2.1.2 Insulation resistance shall be measured in both polari- ties at one pair of terminals at a time. The test voltage shall be equal to U,. The cur- rent conducted between the tested terminals shall be measured. The insulation resis- tance is the test voltage divided by the measured current and s

The current level shall be selected based on the energy capability of the SPD as determined in the impulse durability test (see 6.2.1.6). Both impulse-limiting voltage and impulse dura- bility tests shall be performed with the same impul

34、se. Additional tests may be performed using waveforms selected from Categories Al, B, C and D as well as those listed in the SPD documentation. However, these tests are op- tional and should only be used as appropriate to the application of the SPDs. The cur- rent level shall be selected based on th

35、e energy capability of the SPD as indicated by the manufacturer. Unless otheiwise specified, apply five negative and five positive impulses for each impulse test. The generator used shall have its open-circuit voltage and short-circuit current selected from table 3. Measure the voltage limiting for

36、each impulse without load. The maximum voltage measured at the appropriate terminals shall not exceed the specified voltage protection level U,. Sufficient time shall be allowed between impulses to prevent accumulation of heat. It is understood that different SPDs will have different thermal charact

37、eristics, and consequently will require different times between impulses. If it is required, the impulse may be applied to terminals Xl-XZ of SPDs shown in figures lc) and le). For tests on the SPDs shown in figures lc) and le), each pair of terminals (Xi-C and XZ-C) may be tested at the same time a

38、nd same polarity, or separately. For SPDs that have a common shunt element (refer to 4.3), the voltage on the line terminals which do not have the impulse applied shall be measured and it shall not exceed U,. X1-X2 terminals shall be tested only if required. 6.2.1.4 Impulse reset The SPD shall be connected as shown in figure 2.

For new applications, the impulse reset shall be done with the source voltage and current that is used for the in

44、tended application. The impulse voltage and current waveforms shall be selected from table 3, Catego- ries B, C, and D. The peak open-circuit voltage shall be sufficiently great to ensure that the voltage-limiting component(s) operate(s). The polarity of the impulse voltage shall be the same as the

45、polarity of the voltage source. The reset time is defined as the time from application of the impulse to the return of the SPD to its high-impedance state. Three impulses shall be applied at intervals not greater than 1 min, and the reset time shall be measured for each impulse. The test shall be re

46、peated in the opposite polarity. 47、 durability The SPD shall be connected as shown in figure 3. The a.c. short-circuit current shall be selected from table 5. Apply the currents for the specified number of applications with time between applications sufficient to prevent accumula- tion of heat in the device under test. The open-circu

48、it voltage shall be of sufficient magnitude to cause a full conduction of the SPD. Prior to testing and after completion of the required number of a.c. applications, the SPD shall meet the requirements of 5.2.1.2, 5.2.1.3, 5.2.1.4 (if applicable) and 5.2.2.2. The currents, selected from table 5, sha

49、ll be applied to the appropriate terminals. If it is required, the currents may be applied to terminals Xl-XZ of SPDs shown in figures lc) and le). For tests on the SPDs shown in figures lc) and le), each pair of terminals (Xi-C and X2-C) may be tested separately. For SPDs that have a common shunt element, refer to 4.3. Otherwise, for multi-terminal SPDs test each line terminal to
