8、stings Introduction This Japanese Industrial Standard has been prepared based on the first edition of IS0 4993 Steel castings-Radiographic inspection published in 1987 with some modifications of the technical contents. The portions with sidelines are the matters not stated in the original Interna- t

9、ional Standard. Comparison table between JIS G 0585 and IS0 4993 is given in Annex. 1 Scope This Standard specifies the general requirements for the radiography of steel castings by means of X rays or gamma rays in accordance with procedures given in JIS G 0581 and JIS Z 2306. Remarks : The Internat

10、ional Standard corresponding to this Standard is as fol- lows. In addition, symbols which denote the degree of correspondence in the contents between the relevant International Standard and JIS are IDT (identical), MOD (modified), and NEQ (not equivalent) ac- cording to ISO/IEC Guide 21. 16、 examination and all pertinent information relat- ing thereto, such as sensitivity, coverage and acceptance criteria, shall be indicated in the enquiry and order. 3.2 Unless otherwise specified in the enquiry and order, the radiographic coverage may be of two types, i.e. pilot or regular production

17、inspection. For both types, the manufacturing plan shall show the area to be examined and the time and the fre- quency of examination and shall be subject to agreement between the supplier and purchaser. 3 . 3 If requirements are imposed for which no accepted JIS or other standard or document is ava

18、ilable, a detailed specification of such requirements shall be pro- vided. 4 Time of examination 4.1 Unless otherwise requested in the enquiry and order, the radiographic exami- nation may be performed at any point in the manufacturing cycle, before or after the final heat-treatment. 4.2 mask or be

21、.1 Shooting sketches for pilot radiography When requested in the order or enquiry, preliminary shooting sketches shall be prepared by the supplier for sub- mission with the radiographs of the pilot casting for approval by the customer. These sketches shall show the area of the part to be examined, a

22、nd shall include the fol- lowing information for each exposure. a) b) The gamma source or kilovoltage used. The location of radiation in relation to the area covered, and the film. c) d) e) f) The film-to-source distance. The physical size of the source. The area covered by the film. The placement o

23、f the film and location markers. The thickness and type of intensifying screens. The value of density required. The conditions of development o

25、f films. Shooting sketches for production radiography The preliminary shooting sketch may, by mutual agreement between the supplier and the purchaser, be ad- justed at the time of examination of the first casting sample. Subsequent produc- tion castings shall be examined in accordance with the final

26、ized shooting sketches, which shall include the information in a to m of 6.1. Any new criteria established for the radiography of the production castings, such as changes in the percentage of coverage of the part or changes in the acceptance standards, shall be stated. 7 RejectionlAcceptance criteri

27、a Purchaser shall specify the rejectiodacceptance criteria in the purchase order. Classification of image of defects on radiograph for the criteria is in accordance with JIS G 0581. When designated by the purchaser, the following ASTM standards may be ap- plied. a) ASTME 186 b) ASTME 192 c) ASTME 28

28、0 d) ASTME 446 8 Foundry responsibility Unless otherwise specified at the time of the enquiry or order, the responsibility of the supplier (foundry) is limited to the attainment of the standards specified in the order, in all castings or portions of castings specifi- cally calling for radiographic e

29、xamination. Castings or portions of castings not required to be radiographically examined by the foundry shall not be subject to rejection based upon results of any subsequent radiographic examination. Also, castings shall not be subject to rejection based upon radiographic re-examination subsequent

30、 to their acceptance on the basic of the original radiography, if such examination is carried out by techniques other than those agreed upon at the time of the enquiry and order, and/or in a manner different from that described in the finalized shooting sketch. 9 Records Unless otherwise agreed upon

31、 between the supplier and purchaser, records of radiographic inspection shall be kept by the supplier for a period of at least 5 years.
