3、ister of Economy, Trade and Industry through deliberations at the Japanese Industrial Standards Committee, as the result of proposal for revision of Japanese Industrial Standard submitted by National Institute of Technology and Evaluation, Conformity Assessment Center (NITE)/Japanese Standards Assoc

4、iation (JSA) with the draft being attached, based on the provision of Article 12 Clause 1 of the Industrial Standardization Law applicable to the case of revision by the provision of Article 14. Consequently JIS S 3201 : 1999 is replaced with this Standard. In this revision, definitions and testing

5、methods were revised. Attention is drawn to the possibility that some parts of this Standard may conflict with a patent right, application for a patent after opening to the public, utility model right or application for registration of utility model after opening to the public which have technical p

15、 INDUSTRIAL STANDARD JIS S 3201 : 2004 Testing methods for household water purifiers 1 Scope This Japanese Industrial Standard specifies the testing methods of fil- tration flow rate, removal performance and filtering capability of the equipments mainly used for household water treatment having the

16、function to reduce dissolved substances in water using filter medium (hereafter referred to as “water purifiers”). 2 Normative references The following standards contain provisions which, through reference in this Standard, constitute provisions of this Standard. 20、 of Health, Labour and Welfare, 2003) based on the Water Works Law (Law No. 177, 1957); continuous type water purifier the water purifier used by connecting to a faucet and the like and through which the purified water is continuously sup- plied without being stored in a tank or the like; batch oper

23、condition so as to be passed through a water purifier in the water purifying performance test of the water purifier; marking the information on the water purifying performance which is given to the relevant water purifier when it is sold; filtration flow rate water volume flowing out of the water pu

24、rifier per unit time; removal performance the performance of water purifier which can be ex- pressed with the rejection against the substances to be removed when passing water under a specified water passing condition; filtering capability total volume of filtered water at the point when the removal

25、 performance against the substances to be removed comes to the specified level, when passing water under a specified water passing condition. However, in the case where the substance to be removed is such clogging substance that causes turbidity which decreases the filtered water volume, the filteri

26、ng capability is the volume of total filtered water at the point when the filtration flow rate in a state where the specified removal performance is kept comes down to 1/2 of the marked value; turbidity the index which indicates a degree of muddiness of water. The tur- bidity corresponding to the im

27、purity when 1 mg of standard kaolin is included in 1 O00 mL of purified water is taken as one degree; filter medium materials used for the purpose of removal or reduction of dis- solved substances in the water by their filtering and absorbing functions, such as activated carbon, woven texture, nonwo

28、ven texture, porous flat membranes, hollow yarn membranes, reverse osmosis membrane and the like. 32、he test shall be car- ried out at the ordinary temperature (20 * 15) OC and ordinary humidity (65 ifr 20) % specified in JIS 2 8703. In the measurement of pressure, the Bourdon tube pressure gauge of grade 1.6 specified in JIS B 7505 or that at least equivalent thereto in precision shall be used. Un

33、less otherwise specified, the test shall be carried out adjusting the sample water temperature to (20 i 3) OC. The concentration of the sample water shall be checked by sampling at immedi- ately upper stream of the water purifier or the position considered to be equivalent thereto. 6 Testing method

Remarks 1 In measuring the filtration flow rate, the water from which mud- diness is removed according to necessity shall be used for the sample wat

37、er. 2 In the case of the type provided with a feed pump, water shall be passed by operating the pump in accordance with an appropriate method. 39、 needs to be fed water every time it is used such as the pot type water purifier, pass water initially through the purifier loaded with an unused filter medium in accordance with its using method. Pour water into the supply tank sufficiently fast but not so much as to make it spill out. Measure the

40、time from pouring to the point when the filtered water is fully stored in the storage tank. Calculate the filtration flow rate by the following formula from the capacity of the stor- age tank measured beforehand with the filter cartridge attached. In the case of circular type water purifier, this ti

41、me shall include the time required for the circulation of water. Prior to this operation, immerse a filter cartridge in the purified water for at least 5 min if necessary to adjust the filter with water sufficiently. The above description “the point when filtered water is fully stored in the storage

42、 tank” is defined as follows: after pouring water as fast as pos- sible, the point when the dropping interval increases to one second or longer in the case of the purifier of which filter cartridge point is not immersed in the water, or when the increase of stored filtered water is significantly re-

43、 duced or the amount of the filtered water reaches to the capacity of the storage tank in the case of the water purifier of which filter cartridge point is immersed in the water. However, for the water purifier which is con- nected to the faucet and stores purified water in the storage tank by the p

46、the faucet and stores purified water in the storage tank by the pressure of the passing water or by the pressure of the pump, mount the water purifier loaded with unused filter medium onto the testing apparatus shown in a). Operate the water purifier in accordance with its using method, pass the wat

47、er and measure the flow rate on that occasion in accordance with JIS B 8302. Remarks 1 In measuring the filtration flow rate, the water from which muddiness is removed according to necessity shall be used for the sample water. 2 In the case of the type provided with a feed pump, water shall be passe

48、d by operating the pump in accordance with its using method. 6.2 Removal performance test In this test, the rejection shall be measured in accordance with the following methods. Rejection shall be rounded to one decimal place in accordance with the provision of JIS Z 8401. However, if the test is conducted setting up a given standard value, the results may be expressed as over or under the standard value. The rejection is expressed by the following formula. The same unit of concentra- tion shall be used for denominator and numerator in the formula, according to the substance to be
