、roduction This Japanese Industrial Standard has been prepared based on the first edition of IS0 7250 Ergonomics-Basic human body measurements for techno- logical design published in 1996 with modifying some technical contents. The portions underlined with dots in this Standard are the matters not in

、cluded in the original International Standard. The list of modified contents is given in the Annex 2 (informative) together with the explanation. The well-being of people is greatly dependent on their geometrical relationship with various factors such as clothing, places of work, transportation, hom

、es and rec- reational activities. To ensure harmony between people and their environments, it is necessary to quantify the size and shape of people for optimization of the techno- logical design of the workplace and the home environment. This Standard may be used in conjunction with national or inte

、rnational regula- tions or agreements to assure harmony in defining population groups. In its various applications, it is anticipated that the basic list will be supplemented by specific ad- ditional measurements. 1 Scope This Standard provides a description of anthropometric measurements which can

、be used as a basis for comparison of population groups. The basic list specified in this Standard is intended to serve as a guide for er- gonomists who are required to define population groups and apply their knowledge to the geometric design of the places where people work and live. This list is no

、t intended to serve as a guide for how to take anthropometric mea- surements, but it gives information to the ergonomist and designer on the anatomi- cal and anthropometrical bases and principles of measurement which are applied in the solution of design tasks. The International Standard correspondi

、ng to this Standard is as fol- lows. Remarks : In addition, symbols which denote the degree of correspondence in the contents between the relevant International Standard and JIS are IDT (identical), MOD (modified), and NEQ (not equivalent) ac- cording to ISO/IEC Guide 21.
